We had planned to start by going to Sequoia National Park and Death Valley National Park, but because of the Federal shutdown, all the National Parks and Monuments were closed. We decided to travel south to leave ...

... the Interstate with a lot of long straights with just wasteland on either side of the highway.

After about an hour of driving we cross the state border and we are in California. A bit further along from here we come across a rest area and stop for lunch. There is a sign warning of rattlesnakes in the area so don't venture too far from the RV's.

After lunch, its back on the road where it is still quite windy and we ...
