    Well another day completed....but my goodness, it was harder than anything we have ever walked I think. Set out just before 9 after nice cooked breakfast and finally staggered into our hotel here at Rosthwaite at 5.45 - 9 hours walking!! And it wasn't the distance - though that was long - 16 miles which is about 25 kms- it was that almost never was it easy walking. The flat start along Ennerdale Water was an easy start so we thought, but the flat track was loose ...

    ... our guide book did us proud. It has detailed maps showing stiles, kissing gates, everything to guide us on the right path, plus there were occasional signs and arrows, so we didn't panic about taking the wrong path. All good!
