        ... through town, having a look at a couple of shops and trying some of the local snacks. We had some absolutely incredible steamed buns, made with Tajima beef and some equally incredible rice crackers flavoured with soy sauce that we bought from a little bakery near our ryokan.         ... that somehow looked enticing even in the gloom. For the next two days, our routine would consist almost exclusively of baths in the surrounding onsen and being waited on hand and foot, whilst being served elaborate Japanese feasts served in a traditional style.         ... to try and cover your modesty then walk in in the nude. The place is quite steamy. You clean yourself by throwing some water over yourself. Then hop in. It's absolutely boiling hot!! I loved every minute of it. Would have been good to have someone to talk too. I was the only westerner in I think it was Chinese and Japanese tourists mainly. You cannot put your washing cloth in the water and you have to get out and scrub on one of the shower ...
