    ... we were served an early dinner. Our meals at this ryokan would be served to us in our room. Our waiter, it later transpired, was actually from Germany, but his parentage was Japanese, so he was here to improve his Japanese and English on a work placement.     ... look like they are from the 80's. The train we are on is very old fashioned. We went through lots of rural areas on the train with a few mountains in the background. There were many stops along the way. When the ticket man comes through into the cabin he bows at the head then says something presumably welcome and can you get your tickets ready to show him.
