    ... a very colourful and peaceful place, with great views over the city of Bern. While there were not many roses in bloom, there was an amazing array of Rhododendrums to compensate and a great pond with thousands of tadpoles swimming around the water lilies.

    ... proceeds to shake off right in my face. How kind? My clothes are now beyond wet and dirty. I should be mad the dog but I can't help but laugh. I'll let her fun while she can.     ... and Mike has looked after us splendidly. Hopefully he's not too upset that his top shelf of interesting spirits has taken a bit of a hit.

    Next we headed off down towards Monaco. We've had to do some planning to avoid closed mountain passes crossing the Alps - many of them don't open until June. Google Maps reckons eight hours - will be interesting to see how long it takes in the van as hills are not it's favorite thing... don't even mention mountains.

    ... but Bern is a rather quirky city so it sort of fits! We walked through the streets of the old town, which are beautiful, and then walked around the outside of Münster Cathedral, where there was a market which the boys loved. We met a man who made mini saxophones out of bamboo, and let me have a try! Needless to say, I was not very good!
