The amazing thing about this artwork is that during the second world war the entire building was destroyed in a bombing, except for the one wall with the painting on. They have now rebuilt around it and created a high tech temperature controlled room to keep it safe from decay.

Next we hopped on the hop on hop off bus to finish the areas we hadn't seen yesterday. While waiting for the bus, we got into a conversation with a very nice Scottish couple about their viewpoint on the recent vote for independence. The husband definitely was for it, but his wife was more for not wanting to upset the apple cart. Lovely people and interesting perspectives.

Once there, it was lunch time. And being in Italy, of course, it was time for pizza! Only, everything seems to shut up for the afternoon. So I spent about an hour wandering the streets of Milan trying to find a pizza, before eventually giving up and getting gelato. (I know, what a **** second choice.) ...
