Before I get to that, need to talk about my wet morning. Nope - no rain - just apparently didn't twist the cap on my camelback (drinking water bladder that sits in backpack) on correctly, so, when I tipped my pack on its side to pack to leave this morning, I had a liter of water immerse the entire pack. Oops. It looked like I wet my bunk bed ;(. Luckily, the beds have plastic liners, and luckily most all of my stuff is in plastic bags. But the pack was soaked through, so I used ...
... to explore the Ria further and went to the very top and anchored in Ensenada de San Simon. Very pretty. While searching for a place to anchor we saw around 6 dolphins mooching about - that was real cool.
The following morning we headed for Baiona.
The old town of Baiona is very nice, small but nice. The views of the Ria and the Atlantic are magical as you stroll on the outside of the castle walls.
Great bars and restaurants.
... either reopen or it's supper time.
We happened upon the market as the stalls were clearing up for the day. Bought some shell fish and having spent a little bit of money at this one stall, the owner threw in some local crabs for nothing.
When we got back we ventured in Combarro and enjoyed the local wine in some delightful little bars. This is the life!
The anchorage we had off the beach was just so beautiful. There were lovely woodlands around the bay as well as the views of the mountains in the distance. Pure delight. We enjoyed lovely sunsets and wonderful starry nights.
On the Sunday at low water we watched people forage for cockles and razor clams - we were definitely up for that. But also we observed "controllers" having a go at ...
... the train to Santiago. What an amazing place.... so atmospheric and you could feel the spiritualism - there were loads of groups/clubs/whatever on their pilgrimages and the place was just buzzing - maybe because we were there before the siesta hours!!!!
When we got back after a very enjoyable day we moved on to another anchorage (which is another entry).
