We paid 3 Euros to get in, and then climbed the stairs to the roof (the lift was impossibly small, and very slow). We ran into a tip based walking tour about to start so we joined in, ogo tours. Our guide was Tatania, a wonderful, expressive young woman who knew her stuff. She took us through the city from Puerta del Sol past the Royal Palace to Plaza Espana in a three hour tour. We quite enjoyed our journey as the group was only five of us, very relaxing and easy going.

... that sells them for €1 :) there was three of us so I was trying to order three beers but the guy behind the bar was saying, dos, no i want three! it went on for awhile and he only gave me two beers so i walked off and realised that we must only be allowed two beers per person haha, managed to get a table outside and did some more people watching.
Got home about midnight and fell asleep ready to get up early and pack for our next days trip to Pamplona :)
... because we only have light jackets, but we are trying to stay indoors when we can. It has definitely put a damper on sightseeing, because a lot of the sights are outdoors. But we're doing what we can.
The homesickness is getting to me. I remember it being difficult in Rome for a while, but here it's non-stop. I'm not entirely sure what to do. Privacy is also a rare thing, because our apartment is so small and cramped.
Something we have learned on this trip is that Hotwire nice hotels are often much cheaper than dorm room hostels, and much more comfortable too! Our next hotel in Madrid was reasonably priced and on the same block as the Plaza del Sol, right in the middle of it all!
