          Happy Holidays 2006 Nubian Island We Love You


          We stayed at the nubian island from the 28/6/06 to the 12/7/06 what a wonderful hotel its a 5 star as stated on our night of arrival we were given a welcome drink and then given our keys pool cards and list of meal times etc.We made our way to our room which was a bungalow at the bottom end of the hotel we walked thourgh the hotel grounds which were lovely and well kept the porter brought our suitcases.We had a pool view which was only 50 yards to beach and was near to lunchtime resturant. The hotel was soptless you always saw gardners cleaners they cleaned the pool every day.If you tip the maid on your first day put one english pound under your pillow and they look after you.We also tipped the pool guy siade on our first day and he put our towels out every day for us.The bungalow was very spacious my two girls aged 11 and 14 had there own room the main room had a king size bed which would have slept four people and had air condioning and my girls room had two single beds and also had air condioning the bathroom had a walkin shower separate toilet dont take shower gel soap or shampoo as they fill this every day. Your towels are changed daily and your sheets they also decorate your bed with flowers swans etc.The main resturant was lovely lots of differant food sweats chips pizza chicken for kids the staff in the resturant were very friendly our waiter ramy was brilliant he was always smiling helpful and kind nothing was to much trouble and mohamed the resturant manger was also brillant he also joined in our eveing entertainment. The bar staff were always good we tipped them and they brought our drinks to us my thanks also to amedeaus and michel they looked after us. The cleaner shaban was lovely he worked hard as soon as you smoked a cigarette the ash tray was gone and you recieved a clean one. Both pools have swim up bars. Dont take too much notice what people say about upset stomachs and sickness the stomach upset is commen and you soon get over it its not the hotel food. Take english money as they like this in eygpt.We done the trip to the national park and its worth doing but if you book trips book them in naama bay as they work out cheeper and you can haggle the price we paid 45 for this trip which was three adults and one child all meals and drink icluedid. We have stayed in many 5 star hotels but this is the best 10/10.Its so good we have booked for xmas and next summer worth doing if you want a lovely relaxing holiday the italins were freindly even though its mainly italin hotel but thats fine as there were quite a few english they are due to open an english bar which we showen by the manger its lovely.Thanks nubian island for a lovely holiday. A big thanks you to ramy mohamed amedeaus michel siade and shaban see you xmas.We strongly recommend this hotel.

          Nubian Village/Island - Why do People Moan!


          We arrived mid to late evening and were given a lovely bungalow within the Island resort (although I had Village on my confirmation!). We were asked if we would like to go for dinner first as the dining room was closing while the porter looked after our bags.

          The food? was plentiful, well prepared and presented, and of good quality. I cannot understand why people moan. If you crave a burger/hot dog and chips go to the beach bar every afternoon . . but then, if that is your cup of tea perhaps you should not be in Egypt!! Yes, occasionally some things were perhaps not as hot as I would have liked but it is BUFFET style and it cannot be easy to have every dish piping hot for 3 hours at a time. Local dishes along with other european dishes always a huge selection - different meat/fish and vegetarian - you would have to be seriously fussy not to be able to eat well here.

          Drink? - white and rose wine are iffy . . but the red is lovely. The local beer is particularly good and I lived on refreshing shandys out by the pool. Cocktails - are different!! but they are alcoholic and caused us some amusement tasting what we thought was in them!! You are not going to get a Manhattan or a Singapore Sling - but definitely a Nubian Island special. We had no complaints at all drink available 10 am to midnight and as much or as little as you want - even slush puppys for the kids!

          Entertainment? - perhaps the slight downfall of the whole package as it was mainly in Italian. However we did try and join in wherever possible and the children were not deterred by the fact that the animation team did not speak a lot of English. The singer (one of the Italian Animation team) in the main bar in the evening is good, certainly not Karaoke as someone else suggested. Yes one or two people got up and had a bit of a sing song late one evening, but that was not the norm! In fact one particularly good evening the waiters pushed back all the tables and chairs and we had a good dance, everything from salsa and the tango to YMCA!!

          Service? - wonderful. We were treated well at all times, and always with a smile. Rooms cleaned immaculately, pool towels always available and waiters always attentive and fast even when very busy.

          Weather? - Absolutely great. The hotel is on a windy tip of the island and there is always quite a breeze but this in fact is a blessing. Sea is lovely lots of fish and crystal clear water - ideal for snorkelling and diving. Remember to take water shoes though cos the coral cuts your feet.

          Bus to Naama Bay, lots of excursions (3 hour quad into the desert was great!) camel riding, horse riding swim with dolphins . . you can do it all - you just need more than a week!

          Excellent holiday that I think offers exceptional value for money. We would definitely go back.



          I have just returned from a weeks all inclusive holiday at the Nubian Island hotel with my girlfriend and we had a very relaxing time.

          The room(bungalow) was spacious, clean, comfortable and cool, well deserving of its 5 star rating.

          The grounds of the hotel were beautifully kept by polite hard working staff and were a sight to behold on our walk back to the room especially in evening when exterior lighting was in full effect.

          There were two pools available, the top one of which was quite cold but the bottom pool was nicely heated.

          All staff were friendly and helpful (more so when treated to a small tip). We found it helpful to show our appreciation to the pool barstaff and the gentleman cleaning our room as they both put in huge amounts of effort to make our stay a happy one.

          The food was well cooked and plenfiful without reaching the heights that 5 star cuisine would normally offer. I unfortunately had stomach problems for one day out of the seven but don't think this was specifically related to hotel as I have spoken to many people who have been to the same resort but different hotels and most have suffered from similar ailments. There are many reasons as to why people fall ill when in this part of the world and to solely blame any hotel would be unfair.

          The only bad experience we encountered during our stay was the fault of our tour operator Med Hotels. We booked a snorkelling day trip on the Almira yacht through our tour rep based on advise from him that we'd be better off paying a little extra to go with a reputable company than a faceless local firm. We were assured that booking with Med Hotels guarenteed us a well organised, insured trip should anything go wrong. Unfortunately this trip fell on the day i was suffering with stomach upset and i was unable to attend the trip. It took the best part of the day to track down the rep who was all smiles when selling us this trip, but when confronted with a problem was not so helpful. No refund was available as we had cancelled less than 24 hrs in advance, something he failed to mention at point of sale. The power to predict illness 24 hrs in advance is an ability not in most peoples resources, and so seems an unfair clause to me. When we asked for other solutions to the problem he was unable to transfer us onto another trip and basically dismissed us by suggesting we try to claim on our travel insurance.

          This was one small complaint in what was otherwise a wonderful stay, so go to Nubian Island, have a brilliant holiday. Just dont go there with Med Hotels!

          Excellent hotel set in a beautiful setting about 4 miles from the airport


          The Nubian Island Hotel is a 5* newly built hotel situated on the same site as the 4* Nubian Village Hotel. The complex is situated on the North side of the peninsula about 4 miles from the international Sharm el Sheikh airport.

          The Nubian Island is set in beautiful grounds with man made streams meandering through the grounds. Their is a heated swimming pool and a gymn. The site is well maintained and the staff are all extremely friendly.

          Accommodation - We stayed in one of the excellent bungalows. There was a small terrace with a table and two chairs outside. This was lovely to sit and read or just take in the atmosphere after returning from the beach or swimming pool.

          Restaurants - The main restaurant was well organised and the manager very professional in handling the guests. We enjoyed all our meals. The food was always excellent and there was a very wide choice to suit most pallates. The restaurant nearest the beach and snack bar were also of a high quality.

          Entertainment - Their was not much evening entertainment but that suited us as we were looking for a quiet relaxing time. During the day the Italian Entertainment team worked very hard at motivating the guests with early morning stretch classes on the beach and dance routines round the pool. Benny, who worked with this group is certainly worth a mention as he came and greeted us every day and worked exceptionally hard at getting the guests to join in.

          Reception - Nagy the Manager in-charge of reception worked hard at keeping everything running as smoothly as possible and ensuring the guests had a comfortable and pleasant stay.

          We have returned home to the UK after having had a wonderful time and haven't wasted any time in promoting this hotel to all our friends.

          Very Relaxing


          Stayed at the Nnbian Village {Nubian Island}. It was a great place to stay staff very friendly and helpful at all times. The heated pool was very warm and plenty of sunbeds. The sea was close and warm and the swimming with the fish off the jetty was the best. Try the Quad Bikes into the desert.The food was ok and plentyful would not hesitate to go back and for the price I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

          Nice break but thats all


          me and my girlfriend have just got back from the nubian island hotel and I am still suffering from an upset stomach 4days after it started. I have just read that the water could be to blame but I definitely dont think that the food helped matters. Same dishes everyday and uncooked meat was common and not enough snacks to fill up with throughout the day.Previous people had mentioned there not being any chips, well we got them twice and I can tell those people they didnt miss much.

          First of all, the room was nice and tidy and although it was a bit small, it was good to have our own separate bungalow with a little garden at the front.

          The pool nearest the main building was too cold but make sure you talk to Amr who works behind the bar there as he is very kind and funny. The pool nearest the beach is a nice temperature and although the entertainment throughout the day is geared towards Russian and Italians, I would still recommend to go there as it is good fun watching the various games and activities and some of the foreign music is actually quite good.

          Entertainment in the lobby bar at night is dreadful as you have the same lady singing the same songs every night, so we ended up staying in to watch films which I am embarrased to say was better than going to the lobby bar. We didnt visit the theatre which supposedly had theme nights but it was freezing when we had our welcome meeting as it was an open building.

          Most of the staff are nice and make sure you tip the cleaners as they are very polite people who will leave you a suprise every day.

          En route to the beach which is below the heated pool are gardens which are well looked after. The beach itself isnt that big but the sea makes up for this. Water is only a few inches high for about 100 metres which is where I think the main attraction started, the coral reef. Make sure you take a snorkel with you as you can swim in the sea and see all kinds of fish which seem within touching distance and is an experience which is not to be missed.

          Overall, it was a nice break for us and I wouldnt tell someone not to go but I think there is definitely room for improvement. The 5 star rating is a bit overrated but we filled in questionnaires so hopefully our problems will be rectified for future tourists.

          Wow, Fantastic !!!!


          My wife and i have just returned from a week staying at The Nubian Island (feb 5th). We stayed in a bungalow that was spotless clean and had a double kingsize 6ft 6 wide bed. This complex was only finished in march 2005 and the landscaping was second to none!

          The staff were superb friendly and efficient.

          We had seen all the reviews since booking and were a little dubious i know realise most Brits are not happy unless moaning! We have stayed in many resorts and accept that most foreign 5 star hotels are not to the same standard as ours and most of us Brits wouldnt pay to stay in one anyway! We found this complex excellent and well worth the money we payed.

          The food was very good any one wanting Macdonalds can go to Namma Bay or stay at home. As in most all inclusive some dishes will sometimes get cold just tell the chefs they will be most helpful. One evening my wife didnt like any of the dessert as she is fairly fussy, this being a oriental themed evening the chefs were concerned my wife commented "its ok i will have some fruit instead" they would have none of it and went to the kitchen and brought her back an array of chocolate cake s and desserts!

          Some brits even moaned they couldnt watch the soaps on satellite TV.

          Entertainment was an Italian animation team which is not usually for me anyhow but was OK.

          This complex was great for us relaxing in the sun chilling out eating and drinking!

          Anyone having to get a taxi from the airport they try asking 20 do not pay this i am no pushover and still ended up paying 7 when reading on here 5.

          Good and bad!


          Did the Red Sea cruise on Thomson Spirit the first week, and were booked into the NUBIEN VILLAGE RESORT the 2nd week. On arrival,we were put into THE NUBIEN ISLAND RESORT next door, and were told this was 5* and the Village only 4*.---Well--the bungalows we stayed in were great, and very clean,--the grounds were magnificently landscaped, with little wooden arches and bridges over a lovely stream, which ran right past our door, and 2 large swimming pools--(only one of which was heated)

          That's where the 5* ends! The food was absolutely terrible--as were the drinks, and the entertainment was none existent--except for the same girl, singing the same songs EVERY night!

          As for our departure from Sharm airport, we have NEVER stood so long in such never ending queues, anywhere in the world, and will be a long time before we return!

          When in Egypt....


          We arrived back from Nubian Island [next door to Nubian Village] this morning.

          Atlanta Airlines were appalling, 5 hour delay on the way there and 4 hours on the way back.

          We had a lovely time. Good points include great weather, good healthy food and plenty of it,drinks when you wanted, very pleasant and helpful staff, clean, spacious, pretty, well landcsaped.

          Rooms were faultless.

          Improvements could be made by having an information brochure in the room with a map of the complex.

          Be aware of....the aeroplanes going over, some of them very low and noisy during the day and some of the night.

          We enjoyed the cosmopolitan atmosphere with the Russians and Italians, everyone in harmony sunbathing, listeneing to music around the pool, swimming, volleyball, dancing.

          I saw a comment about plastic cups for drinks not being good, however, seeing as there are many stone floors and children about, glasses if dropped would be a catastrophe.

          I was a little disappointed that there wasn't more Egyptian food and music, along with cultural or folkloric shows on in the evening.

          We did choose to come to Egypt and experience it's rich, Ancient culture afterall!

          Unlike the woman on our transfer bus who I overheard saying " the food at our hotel was rubbish, there were no sausages or fishfingers" Madam, maybe a Butlin's holiday may suit you better.

          The hotel sprayed an insect repellent each evening which kept the mozzies away.

          We would highly recommend it.

          Nubian Island - great hotel!


          Stayed at the Nubian Island for a week and this is a great hotel. The bungalows are wonderful, spacious, clean and very well maintained, as are the beautiful surrounding gardens. The staff are very friendly and I would recommend tipping them early on in your holiday, as it does make a difference. Turning to the food, I have read numerous other reviews of this hotel which are very critical of the food and people claim to have had upset stomachs as a result of this. I would like to dispel this myth as I firmly believe that the problem Brits have in Egypt with upset tums is the mineral content in their bottled water - it's so different from what we're used to. We got upset tums on the 2nd day of our holiday, after having eaten nothing but a couple of slices of toast but we did drink about 4 or 5 bottles of Egyptian mineral water. The upset tums lasted for the entire week, so I blame the mineral water (which obviously you can't avoid drinking!) and not the restaurant food, which was always hot, well presented and plentiful. I recommend this hotel as somewhere to relax and soak up the sun as it's location would not be right for those people who want a bit more action and livlier surroundings.

As we watched my ex wife go through the doorway scanner here on Tuesday it occurred to me that most people 'beeped' but few were 'patted down' and those that were weren't checked very well.           ... fish ... Ace!!! We are back at our Appartment again now & back to our routines & school work. I need to get back to gym all this 'all inclusive' eating & drinking is starting to show on my belly again ! Going to try sort a boat & bus to get us to Luxor sometime soon, Ewan not too keen on flying at the moment- after the horrible news about the Russian plane that crashed just north of here. Live every day as if its your last.... You never know whats round the corner ...

Had rain ( proper storm - thunder lightening) Sunday - lasted from 3pm well into the night. We took a taxi the pub & they had to drive through big puddles !!
