Goat track, dam hippos

... i was sitting (no joke) one femaile lion starred straight at me. From 1 meter away, I must not of looked like a piece of steak. So it walked of.
I has one game drive in the morning 6 – 10 am and one from 4 – 8 pm at night.
I saw lions, zebra, elephant, Hippo, massive crocodile's, leopards at night with the spotlight etc......
What a day.

The Wildlife Camp Mfuwe

... is awesome and because of the rains this year the lagoons had some really green areas where you could see the antelope and birds feeding. Yes we could definitely recommend this campsite and a visit to the National Park.

But tomorrow is another day and we are going to drive up the Luangwa Valley. Don’t know what to expect, we believe the roads may be difficult, and only 4WD are recommended, we shall see.

THE most amazing day!

... back into the bush, Most of the other trucks started and drove away, but we stayed hoping that he may return. The other jeep which stayed drove up the bank and we decided to follow. We were rewarded as there were more lions there - at least four females and a couple of cubs - bigger than the ones we saw the other day, but still with the 'ahhh' factor! We sat and watched them for ages but lions are so lazy - they just lie there and its almost an effort for them to open their ...

The day continues .......

... was tiny! It turned out there were two - we saw both of them on the return trip as they were out in the open - one of them almost looked like it was trying to be a leopard as it was very spotty! What a perfect day! 21.54 The evening continued with the animal theme, well the elephant theme anyway - just after I finished writing earlier Mike came back with the beers at about the same time that we heard an ele trumpet - apparently he had met the ele on the way back ...

Journey to South Luangwa National Park

... as the facilities were modern and we were seen within 15 minutes of arriving at the clinic. The doctor (English, I believe) examined her, had an x-ray done and then showed us the negative x-ray all within 45 minutes. We were relieved to here the x-ray was negative. The doctor told us that by keeping the wound clean and keeping the swelling down, Isabella would be better soon. Few.... After the doctor visit, we had a quick lunch ...

One Hellish Road to a Little Bit of Heaven

... by something even better: a leopard trying to drag a freshly killed impala up a tree. After a couple of attempts it proved too big so he just sat at the foot of the tree and started chowing there. Check out the attached video. Following the thrill of the wildlife it was back to earth with a bump as I managed to catch the second-half of the England-Croatia comedy. It was a shame my ear was recovering as I was ...

South Luangwa National Park

... walked up, so there was a bit of a half hearted fight - it was his brother after all - and I heard a lion roar...then they walked towards our vehicle and sat/lay down and chilled right near us...it was so cool. We watched for a bit with the sun setting behind us, before heading to a lookout for a drink and a leg stretch before setting out again with large torch light scanning the horizon, we saw a spotted hyena...the red eyes shining...we saw large spotted ...

Stuck in lion territory

... found that morning, but we did spot thousands of hippos, crocs, buffalo, zebra and the odd elephant. After a short break as the midday sun came up, we headed into the park again, determined to find the hiding lions. This time Vicky was at the wheel, for the first time taking on the challenge of 4WD-ing. We dared her down some narrow ...

... township has about 10 buildings, but the Airport in international as the Great White Hunters fly in direct from wherever in their private planes. Hunter is something of a misnomer, shooter would be amore apt term, as they pay up front for their selected target (About US$10,000 for a leopard, which goes straight to the game department), then sit in a hide next to a tree that has a nice "ripe" bait sitting in it and wait. So where's the hunting ... No challenge, no danger, no pitting of ...

Christmas Eve Safari

... our stuff in our tent (I should call it an oven), and decided to go swimming in the tiny pool they had there. The pool was actually more like a bath since the water was SO warm. We met some Peace Corps volunteers who were vacationing there, and I realized that Ang was right. No offense to Peace Corps volunteers, but the ones that I have met have been rather self-absorbed. They may ask you about yourself, but they're much more ...
