Reasonable hotel - probably only just a four star. Rooms a little bit tired, and all seem to be smoking rooms so the smell when you first come in isn't at all pleasant. Nice big beds and fantastic water pressure in the showers. Nice touch is the condom provided in the bathroom! Breakfast is quite good and they also offer free wifi - and the speed is pretty good. Two metro stops to the Pearl Markets - or a reasonable walk.

To experience snow is the main reason why we visited Beijing (well, at least other than visiting a friend there). Growing up in tropical country, snow is felt super magical, and we are so excited to experience that for the first time. Reality checks in, and we realize that there will be no snow this year (at least during the time of our visit). A …

Day One: I reached the Beijing airport at 5.50am, my plan for the day was to take the 9 am School Bus to the Mutianyu wall section. The Mutianyu section which is near the Beijing airport is much better and nicer than the Badling section which is nearer the Beijing City but is very crowded. At the Beijing airport, I took the taxi …
