We then wandered back through the city before navigating the tram system to get us in the right tram for the 40 min ride back to the boat by 9.30pm. The statues in Florence were either really friendly or really gruesome. There didn’t seem to be an in between. Not too sure as an artist I’d depict a scene of a guy sticking his junk in front of another man’s face with a baton in his hand, or even that of decapitating a foe. Hardcore stuff.

... beautiful, and not just because it’s gorgeously warm. An authentic Viennese coffee house, it has red velvet seating and a huge cake stand groaning with sugary treats. Having skipped lunch we dive straight into a cherry cheesecake, some hot chocolate with rum and a glass of warming sherry, all banishing the chill and easing my throbbing foot.

... I was in the mood for some serious Goblet of Fire antics-- but the hedges definitely didn't disappoint. Angela made it to the middle treehouse first and watched us, amused, as we became hopelessly lost. Blake and I strategically explored all the tunnels but still didn't make our way very far. Finally, we decided to split up on a whim-- my trail led me right to the middle while he got lost again. We did all finally "win" the maze ...
