We eventually made our way down back to the bus (which took a bit of effort) and then we had a nice dinner with an absolute babe waitress to finish off Barca in style.       ... security....and passport checks....and made the flight with 5 minutes to spare. Flying over Switzerland at night was magical. Cars would appear out of nowhere then disappear again into mountain tunnels. It all looked very surreal.

      Once we arrived in Barcelona we picked up our luggage and our bikes (YES they made it!!) Now we had what felt like the mini Mission Impossible (you can start humming the tune now)....Dum dum dee dee dum dum doo ...

      ... to be one of the most beautiful buildings in possession of multiple personalities. It is gothic, baroque and a bunch of other architectural types which sadly haven’t stuck in my brain. It’s an absolute cracker, is what it is. Right down to the tomb of Cristopher Columbus inside, although what a Genoan is going buried in Spain is still a point of confusion for me. And such a delight, the gypsies out the front who shove a piece of rosemary in your hand ...

      ... asked him if he would be interested in showing off his facilities to the 18 students in my "Environmental Issues of the Mediterranean" class – he enthusiastically agreed. Yesterday he and his group devoted their whole day to taking carbon dioxide measurements with my students and teaching them the importance of taking careful measurements.

      ... of the restaurants appealed to me, so I decided to try it. There were two girls working (who could speak a bit of English) and I ordered the Catalan Meatballs in peas & carrots, along with some red wine (and coffee after dinner). It was rather a small bowl with four meatballs in a gravy, and I was still hungry so also ordered some potato wedges.
