We walked along the sidewalk near the beach and could see surfers enjoying the large waves. Even though there was a sign posted "No swimming, no surfing" because of sharks. Maybe the sharks were busy somewhere else that day.

to the cone of the current active volcano which is Piton De Fournaise. It was a
5 hour walk up to the edge of the current crater so we decided just to walk to
the edge of the drop down to the old crater. What an amazing unique experience!
