... and their son Thierry were waiting for us just outside, relieved that we had finally arrived after two days of delays. We talked and caught up on news as we walked to the car and they drove us the short way to the waterfront of Saint Denis where they had reserved a hotel room for us. It was about 23:30 by the time we checked in and said goodbye for the night. Although we mostly just sat in taxis, on planes and in lounges, it has still been quite a long and tiring ...
... normal; font-weight: normal;">We were very surprised by the large amount of wildlife that we saw, far more than we expected. We were also expecting at best to have to use binoculars to see them up close when in reality we were lucky enough to see them right next to our vehicle.
Today was our
longest driving day and we were on a lot of very narrow windy roads again. We

There was not a lot to see and we walked ...

the surrounding peaks were much higher and steeper. The river and waterfall at
the bottom of the walk was very refreshing and we spent a fair amount of time
soaking our feet in the cold water. We decided to have some more yummy buns
from the bakery and shopped for food for tomorrow’s breakie and lunch that we
would be having on the road.
