Lobby is huge, has a pool. Restaurant, bar and laundry service are extortionate but breakfast is epic and guests get 30% off

Wow two weeks done already, it really doesn't feel like it.
This morning we had a bit of a lie in till 9.30 so we're too late for the hotel breakfast. We remembered that there was a Starbucks back down the road so we head there.
While enjoying our BLT, tea & coffee Ian sees Bill & Jenny come out of there hotel nearby, we attract …

Got up around 7 am to get down and eat breakfast before we met up with JT, our guide, and Mr. Han, our driver. Breakfast was lousy with choices. From Asian choices like noodle soup and congee (rice porridge) to eggs and bacon. I can get used to this.

Then we headed to Tienanmen Square. Today was a bit of a minor holiday, Armistice Day, so …

Another great breakfast. I am getting the hang of ordering the noodle soup for breakfast. Trying to drink a lot of water today.

Met JT and Mr. Han at 8 am to start our trek to the Great Wall. We made a stop at the Jade Factory and learned how to tell real jade from fake. It is when you hold it up to light the real is cloudy and the fake …

Once we landed, got our luggage, through customs, our guide JT and driver Mr. Han met us and got us to the hotel. JT helped us get checked in and then we got up to the rooms and got settled. Marcus and I are in room 1509 of the Novotel Beijing Peace Hotel.

We asked the concierge for a dinner recommendation and he guided us to a dumpling …

Once more into the fray dear friends! This time to mix it with a small percentage of the 1.5 billion people of this country who were on summer holidays. We happily felt no compulsion to join the 40+ minute queue to file past Chairman Mao's tomb in blazing sunshine. Tiananmen Square was suitably huge but Liz expected it to be even bigger. A huge …
