One of the most beautiful days yet!

... same as your very own!! Lovely hostess runs it, and everyone we have seen on the track for the last few days seems to have ended up here, including a young New Zealander. So should be fun and social tonight. It has been an absolutely perfect day. Not a cloud, except a few little ones that hover around the Pyrenees. And it was cool despite ...

A comfortable, but hilly, 23 kms

... sad to think it will all end in a few more days! We have just come back from another walk around this town. It is so beautiful - and I think another of les plus beaux villages de France. But it is not just a picture showpiece, it is a living place. We just had a walk round the ramparts - fabulous, but didn't have any camera with us, so will have to take a few extra shots as we leave in the morning. Off to dinner ...

A lazy, almost no walking day in Maslacq

... trouble eating the dinners sometimes, too much, despite all the calories we must burn up walking. So this was just perfect. Amr also wants me to mention that the wifi code at this place had 37 characters!!! It took both of us 4 goes to get on!!! So we left at about 8.45, and just as it started to rain! They had said pm showers, but it was steady enough to need ponchos....but after 10 mins or less stopped, and held ...

Last long day, and better than expected!

... lovely that for a while we kidded ourselves that we just might miss it - the clouds were gathering and looking quite lovely, but we hoped they may not intensify right over us! And they didn't for a long time. We could see that it must be pouring in one direction and hoped it would stay there. But our luck ran out at a little town - Castillon - about 4 kms before Arthez de Béarn - and for the last hour we had ...

Good walk, Pyrenees now definitely in sight!

Another 18 kms today, fairly easy and relaxed, and surroundings are definitely changing. Left our wonderful accommodation at about 9. It is fun interspersing B&B style accommodation with hotels. At the guest houses it is very convivial, with interaction with the hosts and other guests, many of whom you have met on and off along the route. Dinner is like a dinner party, with wonderful home cooked food. Today we are at a little hotel in a small town, and can ...
