After a total of 20 hours flying and about 3 hours in Dubai airport, we've arrived in Paris. Only here for one night before we catch a train in the morning for Bordeaux. Stayed at Novotel, near Gare de Montparnasse. I knew we were staying near the Eiffel Tower but I didn't realise how close until we went for a walk last night, so couldn't resist taking photos this ...

The map misrepresents the elevator's actual size, giving the dimensions of the entire shaft--the actual elevator is as wide as the door, and deep enough for two people comfortably close, or crowded if you have luggage. But it tries to prevent claustrophobia by having a mirror on the back wall!

Last year our room looked into a shaft-like courtyard. This year ...

... met up again at 7pm ish and caught a train to Trocardo station which took us right outside one of the viewing areas for the Eiffel Tower. There were so many people, it was insane. But we got in quickly for our photos and soon headed off to find somewhere for dinner. We found a nice restaurant up a side street, and had one of the best meals we've had in Paris! Saved the best for last haha :-). After our yummy mains and desserts (Gary was strong and ...

We spent most of the day relaxing again before heading out to see the Eiffel Tower in the evening. Arriving at the Trocadero metro station we were met with a fantastic view of the tower across the gardens. We also saw the typical assortment of black guys selling mini Eiffel Towers, yipping toy dogs and exorbitantly overpriced water bottles. Having previously visited with his Swiss school group when ...

... headed off to pick up little Paul from his grandparents while Lynda, Lea & I went for a stroll. More amazing buildings, more churches, a walk along the Seine, a glass of wine - or for Lea a 'Monaco' which is beer, lemonade & Grenadine & very popular. Then back towards home to meet Mat & Paul for a drink nearby before dinner.

Lea treated us to some lovely homemade lasagne & we enjoyed the night in playing with little Paul!
