Hong Kong Baby !!!

After our time in China it is fair to say we were both quite excited about the prospect of Western comforts in Hong Kong. Aside from the pleasure of a western style toilet and no spitting on the street, we were looking forward to stocking up on essentials from some familiar shops (The Body Shop was Ali's first port of call!)

Plus – the most exciting part of all was the fact we were staying in a lovely clean Novotel hotel, thanks to Ali contacting an old ...

... actually took ages to leave the runway, in other words all passengers were on board but they couldnt get takeoff clearance. Anyway got here finally. I will go and have some dinner soon as the food was just rubbish on the plane.

Hong Kong is very foggy, or is it smog. Whatever it is, it looks dirty indeed.

... From photographs in travel books and magazines the ferry looked old-fashioned and quaint against the backdrop of modern buildings - but sitting on the benches inside the boat simply felt as if this ferry was a utilitarian mode of transport. With little fanfare the Kowloon waterfront slipped away, and within minutes the Hong Kong shore boldly came into view.

When we got off the Star Ferry we walked over a long ...

... What to do..... What to do until 530PM?

My time in HK has come to and end. The whirlwind adventure must continue but what shall I do until I catch the 530PM boat to the island of Macau? Sleep in! HAHAHAHAHAHA. Actually that did not really happen. Instead I woke up, had breakfast one last time at my hotel and headed out for the boardwalk area where they had an interesting display of statues commemorating HK film industry and birth place of the late, great Bruce Lee.

So after officially getting settled into Cassady's place, it was time to explore our surroundings. This list isn't exactly chronologically correct nor comprehensive, but it gives a good overview of our opinions of a place. Read on, punk. The MTR (Subway) - The Asians have this thing allllll figured out. It's SO easy! It really shows how old and antiquated our subway lines are. You can buy these things ...

... Up at 8am and after breakfast we set off for a day trip to 'Macau'. As the British had leased Hong Kong from China, the Portugese had leased Macau, handing it back in 1999. A taxi, one of the few cheap things in HK, took us to the ferry terminal and after passing through HK emigration, we boarded the fast catamaran for the hour's run to Macau. On entry we passed through immigration, which was dual language Chinese / Portugese. The island is renowned for ...
