... It was strange how the scenery had gone from lush green countryside to a arid Martian like landscape in such a short amount of time. There was wasn't really much to see out of the window that day, but Dave and I had managed to entertain ourselves with drawing competitions and 20 questions. The air was quite stale as the weather outside was hot and opening a window was not advised, unless you wanted to turn your cabin in to a mini Gobi Desert (we found this out the hard way ...
Moscow, Moscow, Russia yellowbrickroad... It was like a madhouse out in the corridor with boxes everywhere, myself and tom are sharing with the 2 norwegian girls. As there are 9 of usand 4 in a room the norgwegian lad is in a rooom with 3 other Mongolians. Tommorow we are going to draw straws to see who will be in the rooms the other nights. The rooms have worked out well as 5 of the group like to drink and the other 4 including me are not big drinkers so the toom arrangements have worked well.
Moscow, Central Russia, Russian Federation richardcowley... breath, I put the robe on just in case this wasn't right, and dropped my pants. There, that wasn't so hard, was it? Next came the shirt. The police hadn't been called yet. Here goes nothing....the rest of my underwear came off and apart from the robe, I was standing naked in the middle of what looked like a small restaurant. The old lady looked proud and motioned for me to go through some doors.
Clutching my robe tightly just in case this was ...
... ends of sights here in Moscow. First I went to the famous pedestrian walking street called Arabat Ulitsa on the west side of Kremlin. This is the most famous street in Moscow and a favorite hang out for Moscow artists and alikes. There are plenty of cafes, yes Starbucks and Mc Cafe, all over the place. The early morning time is still quiet without much action and ...
MOSCOW, Central Russia, Russian Federation andrewy... they like their neon signs. Its like blackpool illuminations driving through the town. When we arrived at the hotel the guy behind the counter seemed to be very friendly so maybe he will be able to help us speak to the airport tomorrow. The only thing is we are supposed to be on an excursion to see Moscow tomorrow but I can't go without a coat, hat and gloves or I will freeze to death. Might have to buy something ...
Moscow, Central Russia, Russian Federation oldhamguy... visit. The mis-hap made us late in returning to the ship which was further exacerbated by the bus driver being pulled up for a minor traffic offence. The guy must have had eyes in the back of his head. Back for lunch at 3pm that meant, the usual 3 courses. A bit of a rest before it was time to sail. All aboard by 5pm and sail at 5.30pm sharp, and we did. This also entailed a safety instruction from the first mate at ...
Moscow, Russian Federation kilpatt... staatt Mjoes.
Moscow, Central Russia, Russian Federation wadquadI started the trip by train from Helsinki to Moscow with my friend. We had a second class tickets for sleeping cabin and that was really enough because of the other nice drunken finnish travellers who shared the cabin with us.We also got a hot tip concerning the custom regulations in Russia: if you leave the country at different border,MAKE SURE THE CUSTOMS INSPECTOR STAMPS YOU'RE CUSTOMS MANIFEST.Otherwise you may have to pay huge taxes from you're own products at the next border.I had to ...
Moscow, Russia yeltzin... place for beers, but ours was the place for coffee! Anyway, the first night we all had a few drinks together and Thomas, Pascal and Adam had us in fits of laugher with their stories, particularly the one about the Frenchman. About 9.30pm we all headed back to our cabins to prepare our 2 min noodles- its funny actually there is a great tradition for 2 min noodles on the train as the dinners are too expensive so it is quite OK to excuse yourself at any point and say "I ...
