Gdansk to Poznan
Rain am, fine and hot pm, late storm
It was raining steadily when we left Gdansk but cleared as we drove to Poznan. The trip was longer than expected with road works and once again many towns to pass through at low speeds. We finally made it to Poznan and found our hotel, unpacked and caught the tram into the Old Town. The Old Market Square is lined with lovely buildings and has an impressive Renaissance Town Hall with clock/bell tower. From there we wa...

With my cold, I am moving slowly but given the size of the Poznan, it is plenty fast enough. My first stop is to the Cathedral at Ostrow Tumski. The cathedral has been rebuilt but the highlight the tombs of the founders of Poland around 1000 AD. Next, the Art Museum which I like more than Wroclaw's. It is extensive.
For dinner, I go to a restaurant called Salt & Pepper. Very good food but when the bill comes, it is much higher than what ...
... restaurant, Bovaria, makes an excellent Hefeweizen. Poznan would make a great place to chill for a few days. A week ago, I hadn't even heard of this town.
Yet again, I have the hostel room to myself (8 beds). Like so many (virtually all), the quality of workmanship of the hostel is very poor. It is set up like a home with tall ceilings. Nice. But attempts at making it into a hostel just don’t work well. Beds have slats ...
... with a fatty looking Giro and stale bread along the counter, my belly having a serious problem with the fatso`s long dirt stained fingernails...out here life is more intence, more serious in its foundations...
Life was very serious for that poor mouse that just mere kilometers behind me got swept into total oblivion by the razor sharp blades of a lucky bussart on the hunt.
Life is very serious too for those poor ...
Kórnik is a little town located approximately 35 kilometers to the south-east of Poznan. The town was found in Middle Age. There are few tourist attractions there:
- Kornik Castel, a medieval caste turned into a baroque palace with beautiful park and botanical garden,

Poznań is a vibrant, alive city in west-central Poland located on the Warta River. Even thought Poznan is one of the oldest cities in Poland and wonderful as a historical center, it might surprise you with it's vibrant, young, college energy.
The Cathedral Basilica of St. Peter and St. Paul is the oldest Polish cathedral, founded in Poznań during the latter half of the 10th century ...

... food. In 2008 they were building a huge shopping mall just opposite the Lake...it might be there now.
Nice place to eat, read and spend some time is a shopping mall in the town called 'Stary Browar' - walking distance from the Old Town.

We just wanted to send out an email to let everyone know we are alive and doing great! We have been and seen so many things thus far, but don't have any time to write about it :(...because we have to catch our train to Berlin, and we haven't been having much luck with the transportation system. Woot woot for Europe!!! We miss everyone and hope everyone has a great new years!!! XOXO
Poznan, Poland alyssa.amos... weird street performer. This man wearing an orange cloak that covered his face stood on a box with a a stick in one hand and a bell in the other hand. He was supposed to stand still like a statue until someone gave him money, but he was shaking back and forth, noticeable from 20m away. When a coin was put in his tin, he would bend over slowly while ringing the bell then stand back up and end off by hitting his staff on the ground once. I'd have to say it was the lamest busker I ...
