Would you believe we saw THE Queen?
I am NOT kidding! We really did see THE Queen! And, no, Rick, I did not pull a faux pas and put my arm around her and, unfortunately, I did not get to see what was in her purse--my mother always wanted to know. One of our activities today was a trip to her private residence, Windsor Castle, and we had a close-up look at her "back" door so to speak …
Billy Elliott
Sorry it has taken so long, but access to internet has been spotty. Am actually writing this on Wednesday evening.
Monday we were still in London. We had a local guide, still not our Globus tour director. Doug took us around the city, driving us by all the well known spots: Harrod's, Notting Hill, Parliament, Big Ben, Westminster Abbey, # …
Note to self: bring an extra set of feet!
Today was our second day in London and my feet are DYING! They honestly feel as if I'm stepping on thorns whenever I take a step. Nonetheless, we went to Westminster Abbey, St. Paul's Cathedrawl, the British Museum, and finally Kensington Palace. Our checklist is looking good!
We got into the long line first thing in the morning to go …
Palaces and more palaces!
After a long day, I just had a hot shower and it felt SO GOOD. Also, I found out you can plug your ipod into this line-in they have by the TV, and it'll come out through speakers in the washroom's ceiling! One person dance party in the shower? I think so! I could really get used to this, haha. But seriously, today was exhausting! I learned that …
Portland to London all in a day....and a half
Wow, what a long day. It started with my father making me waffles, and fruit in Newberg, Oregon. After a hearty breakfast and a good visit with my sister Beth and brother-in-law Steve, along with Mom and Dad, I drove to the Tigard Costco. Purchased four 8GB SDHC Memory cards for my digital camera. Then I had my father drop me off at the Portland …

Historical Traveler Reviews Novotel London West
Mediocre
Just don't try to get anything to eat after 10 o clock. The room service seems unavailable and the place is littered with nice food vending machines that don't work! It really seems like theres no management. ON the plus side the breakfast is pretty good!
Good location for Apollo Theatre
We chose the Novotel as a good location to attend a show at the Apollo Theatre and as we know the Hammersmith area well, we knew this was one of the best hotels with regards to location.
We arrived at the hotel just after midday expecting to leave our bags and collect them later when we returned to check in. However, we were checked into our room immediately, which was a real bonus.
Although our hotel room was extremely clean, I do not know if the decor in the room was meant to be bland or attempting to be minimalist - but overall, the make-up of the room felt cheap.
Overall though, we had a great time revisiting Hammersmith and the hotel served the purpose that was intended. I would stay at the hotel again, although, maybe it is time for it to be refurbishment.
Good Value
Stayed in April 2004. Very nice hotel for the money. Location is just outside the tourist zone. Major tube/bus station (Hammersmith) is a very short walk. Area between hotel and tube station seemed safe. Rooms are small for family of 4 but comfortable, quiet, modern, and clean.
No pool and restaurant is too expensive, but that is not really important in London.
Good hotel
I have stayed in this hotel twice the last two years.
The English breakfast is remarkeble for English standarts.
Rooms are OK sized and clean. Hotel is close to the tube line.
If you want no fancy stuff....go and book :)
Needs refurbishment
As A tour manager i stayed here in Jume 2004. The rooms are spacious but in need of refurbishment. The continental breakfast lacked any meat or fresh fruit, the selection of bread was superb however. The staff were however happy and friendly.
Happy enough
I have stayed at the Novotel three times over the past 6 months. It is a very good location. The hotel is fine - rooms are average enough decor wise. Good standard of hygiene. Food in rest below is very tase and reasonably priced. Only niggle is that most staff have poor english skills. This only becomes an issue if you have a problem - then it becomes a real pain. Otherwise staff are very friendly and helpful.
Good quality
Stayed here at least once a month over the last year, and have not had a bad experience. Polite staff, good quality rooms... generally a good hotel.
Loved the Novotel London West Hammersmith
Excellent Service at this hotel and rooms comfortable. Huge english buffet breakfast if you wish but plenty of fresh fruit if you want to stay healthy. Planet's bar lively and friendly though drinks a bit pricey but same as all of london. A 5 minute walk from the railway and tube station but you need to leave yourself a good hour to get to Kings Cross on the tube for your home journey. I would recommend this hotel. Enjoy we did!!
Great stay
I travel a fair amount for business so I know a good hotel. This hotel is relatiely cheap, I got a queen size bed and a full bath not just a shower like many european hotels. Everything was clean and the hotel was even able to check me in at 7:30AM for no extra charge after being on a flight all night. Also, their "free" breakfast really is free and it's a great breakfast.
Loved the Novotel London West in Hammersmith
I recently stayed at the Novotel London West in Hammersmith. The building itself is new and modern, and my double room was very large, very comfortable, and very clean. The white walls reflected the natural and electric light giving the room a kind of cheeriness. It's about a five-minute walk from the hotel to the Hammersmith underground station, where you can take either the District Line, the Piccadilly Line, or the Hammersmith & City line to virtually anywhere in the central London area. If in the future I visit London again, I will definitely stay at the Novotel London West.
