... After the obligatory Clair's and cream and double espresso, we said goodbye to Claude and headed to Vevey, a lovely coastal town with a strong artistic heritage. The walk along the promenade and back through the town took 90 minutes and was a pure joy. Only sunshine and warm weather has followed us all the way through Europe so far, and these towns come to life in this climate. The highlight though was our last stop at the famous (smoke on the water) Monteux. This mid size town ...

Leonie and Heather taken the boat from Montreux to Le Bouveret, the rest of us retuned home by ...

The cathedrals were all open, with the exception of the one at Chalons-en-Champagne (day 20). They varied in size and architectural style but they all tended to have wonderful stained-glass windows.

I have to confess that a lot of the history of France was lost on me. This was partly because I couldn't translate the explanatory notes made available ...

Switzerland - Chocablock (Lausanne part 1)

Switzerland is such a beautiful country, everywhere you look is picture from a travel brochure. However, one week in Switzerland is enough to know that my insides are not designed for such rich Swiss food. I arrived in Geneva, and with instructions from Kathy Zimmerman (which I didn't follow very well because I was still feeling the effects of the cocktails from the night before) I managed to eventually get my way via train to Lausanne. No surprises that ...
