Nice and the Conference

We awoke to clear skies in Nice, a nice change from Rome and a chilly transit in Paris. Our room at the Novotel c/o the conference is very nice with full hotel amenities includine a warm and cold breakfast (with as much cafe au lait as you can take). It is a mere 300m away from the Acropolis convention center and site of the conference. While Bill presented and networked, Teresa made the most of the day by reacquainting herself with this lovely Mediterranean town along the Cote d' Azur. Mardi...

Last Day in Europe

After Bill's last presentation at the conference it was time to explore Nice. We had run out of steam and decided to save the idea of going to the Provence region for another adventure. The day was clear, blue skies and 50F ... knowing we wouldn't be seeing that kind of weather at home on a regular basis for a while, the seaside town was the call for the day. Ambitious on foot, we covered a lot of ground. We stopped for a bit of lunch and took our prefunctory "Daily Facts" photo after salads ...

After brekkie it was onto Menton which is a lovely little town just before the Italian border. Menton is a much more down to earth place than its neighbours and more our scene. We found a park right on the beach and went for a wander and took in sum much needed sun. Next stop Italia!!<br>

Gorges Verdon... Route Napoleon

... seen and spoken to, to date. <br> Set off mid morning to drive through Gorges du Verdon, again another stunning drive. This time though the weather was kind to us and we were able to get out for a hike after lunch. It seemed like a popular drive as we encountered several other tourists, one couple were eating lunch at the same spot we were. They packed up their picnic, took a swig out of ...

You are so nice, Nice.

... Monaco? ****en everyone. It made me sick. It makes me realize how much I appreciate nature and I don't care for money. I mean, let me get this right. I care about money for the sake of being able to enjoy good food, which I like to make, or a good all you can eat sushi meal. Or, i enjoy money in a sense that I can pay for a stay at a good hostel or get a rail pass. I can use money to go skydiving in Switzerland, or snowboarding in whistler. I enjoy money to be able ...

The French Riviera

... the museum, in that order. Not the best way because then I was carrying to bags of groceries through Monaco, the church, the palace, but I didn't know where I was going, and that's the order they came in. The palace and museum where really good. I got to see a lot of neat guns, sculptures, furniture and paintings, but I don't think these people have heard of the saying 'less is more.'<br><br>I walked around Monaco for a while longer and by ...
