Travel Blogs from Maastricht
Holland is a small country. Just a few hours by car down the motorway from Vianen is Maastricht. But a detour through some country roads with pretty villages and even a ferry to cross a river improved the journey greatly.
The purpose of the visit to Maastricht was to take the boat ride to see the caves. But the heavy rain and cold wind put …
Of course, people have used these tunnels for precisely for the purpose of hiding. When the French were roaming around in the late 1700s, Dutch citizens moved underground, carving sleeping platforms into the walls and hiding their livestock with them. They were revelaed by an escapee pig who emerged from the side of the mountain and then led the French to the rest of his pig kin, but I can’t imagine how the people survived, with only ...
... because most presentations back home have only the people presenting talking with maybe a question-answer panel at the end. Here, presenting is much more interactive, which I actually find to be not only easier on the presenters, but also helps to learn it more and create discussions. If only I could do that back at Minnesota...
So, we'll see how PBL goes, but so far, I think it's going pretty well and I like it. That might change come exam time though...
In Maastricht, Carnaval is a huge celebration. Originally, it began as a Catholic celebration right before Lent begins. Now, it's just one big, three-day-long party. TravelPod Member ReviewsNovotel Maastricht
Standard soulless city hotel
Staff quite friendly and helpful
Location is not city centre, but there is a complimentary shuttle into the city, but no return - they want everyone to use a specific taxi service, for reasons one can only wonder at! But it is not far to walk, 20 minutes,, and people are willing to help with directions.
