Novotel Luxembourg City

... hike and we took the dogs with us. It was very nice. It was a small cascade and it was very quiet and peaceful there. She said in the summertime it is very crowded. I imagine it would be like the waterfalls in North Carolina in the summer.

Of course I needed to visit Luxembourg, hiding away there between France, Germany and Belgium. It is the fifith smallest country in the world. It is very hilly and surrounded by trees. The hostel is down at the bottom of a cliff, yay! The city of course is quite small, but it is surrounded by ruins and forest which makes it quite a unique city in amongst the hustle and crowds of all the other major cities. The people there speak French and their own language, Luxembourgish I suppose.

On Thursday I got up and walked the city of Speicher and looked at the whole town, it really isn't that big at all. It is a small city and most people either work on the Air Force Base or they drive to Bitburg or Trier to work. Anyways it was nice to see the small city and where my parents lived for a few years. After I was finished walking Richard and I went onto the base to look around ...

... Trier. It was breathtaking. We could see all the Roman ruins and all of the churches in the city. It was a really amazing sight for me. So after a few minutes of gazing at the city we got back in the car and went to Speicher, where I lived for the first year of my life. After getting to their house in Speicher we had a few drinks and just chatted about the past.

... her sister had scoured the Trier markets and found the elusive vegetable. Christiane had prepared a large bowl of the very best tasting celery salad ever. ... done with the Burg Elz tour, we got back on the road, headed toward Luxembourg. We had thought about seeing Trier, the old German city with a Roman history, but then we decided to see Luxembourg instead. Luxembourg is the largest western European country that we have not visited, so we decided to go see what it looks like. If we catch this little country, we will have visited every country in western Europe, except for Andorra and San Marino.
