      Beautiful Days of Skiing

I spent the first two days of the new year with sister Helen sharing some very enjoyable skiing . The weather was again superb, full sunshine and clear skies. In fact the weather on Friday actually climbed up above zero, only just but we could feel the difference. I'm really pleased with my skiing; certainly not great but better than I've ever skied ...

... opportunity which I must grasp to just 'move on'.

Whilst my grief over the last 6 months has overshadowed everything, one thing that has shone through is the amazing support I've received from family and friends. ... I felt so far away from this very Australian day..

Then today the snow the whole region has been hoping for arrived. I awoke to a magical scene, a real fairyland .There is nothing quite like waking to a countryside blanketed in snow; apart from its beauty the silence is deafening.

And the ski fields got a good fall as well so there is an excellent chance Helen and I could be skiing in a day or two. I can't wait.

      Voiron to Chambery 57k

A travel blog entry by jan-pete-cycle on Sep 18, 2013

... then the rain stopped and we looked at the map to see whether there was a better route. As usual TomTom had chosen the worst possible way so we started off again, still had to walk up a very steep hill for quite a few long bends but eventually could get back on and cycle, quite hot with all the walking so I had to take off the long trousers & back into shorts. Bit too soon as it started raining heavily ...
