... and realised it was for an obscene gesture to the crowd. from then on Steaua were fairly comfortable and added a 3rd late on (I have to confess I wasn't paying attention and missed the goal) it's becoming a familiar theme that I am writing to you from the comfort (loosely speaking) of a bus, sweltering due to the lack of air conditioning, this time somewhere in Bulgaria. In quite a productive stop in Bucharest, one major issue was resolved as I finally did some ...
... that looked like it might have air conditioning. It didn't. So, I sat outside. The street itself, the Aviator's street, is tree lined and quite lovely. The menu at Trattoria Verdi Pizzeria was in Italian and Romanian so knowing I wanted (and only had time for) a salad, I chose the one that had the words "mozzarella" and "parmesan". It did not surprise me in the least that once the salad arrived the other main ingredients were tomatoes and cucumbers.
... to get ready and head to the airport. We were all a bit tired and hungover but we knew what to do, we had done this many times before.
This wasn't a bad day to begin with, we got the same bus back to the airport and headed to our check in desk with Blue air (Romania's budget airline :S). When we arrived we found out we had to pay 14 Euro to check in for Blue air, which none of us had seeing as Romania uses the Lei. We hunted for about 40 minutes for an ...
... and I could only imagine what it would look like that night. The only way you know you're in the Old City is because the buildings themselves are old. This wasn't really all that unpleasant, though, because the charged atmosphere was nice for a change, and again, it was easy on my feet. I found a pastry shop and pressed on to my next stop, the National Art Museum, which was again closed. I tried the Museum of the Romanian Peasant next, but this was an hour-long walk north, so by ...
... revolution took place...of course), the Concert Halls and some really nice/grand buildings which were a surprise admist all the dirty concrete that had been surrounded us most of the way. Had dinner at this awesome Hungarian beer hall place where the interior looked amazing with the gothic painted ceiling and wooden panelling but unfortunately, the food did not match the quality so much =(. I guess we did get the lunch menu at 6pm haha so it ...

Historical Traveler Reviews Novotel Bucarest City Centre Bucharest
I have stayed multiple times at the Novotel Bucharest and have always been pleased, even though I think it is overpriced (I think I pay about 175-200 Euros / night). The hotel is fairly new so the common areas and rooms are nice. Like usual, the good, bad and ugly!
After a sleepless night in a supposedly three-star hotel I was looking for anyplace that had a free room. Since I clearly couldn't trust the 3-stars to meet my needs, I upgraded to the Novotel and did not regret it, although it was definitely pricey. Perhaps I could have found a better price in advance on line.
I was here for 6 nights, the bedroom was very clean with tasteful furniture, lots of space and a very comfortable big bed. The bathroom was very nice with a separate shower and tub. The gym was well equipped with a good choice of machines and the steam room was a little piece. of luxury. Food was good in the restaurant at night. An ATM in the lobby which accepts most major bank cards is also a nice touch
We stayed at the Novotel from December 28-January 4. The hotel is very new and French-run. All staff speaks English, so we had no problems communicating with anybody. Service was excellent from the moment we stepped into the lobby, The rooms are average, with Ikea-like furniture and NO OUTLETS in the vanity area! That drove me crazy, as I had no area near a mirror in which to curl my hair with a curling iron. A hair dryer was built-in to the wall, which was helpful.
