We started our second day in Beaune with a lovely breakfast before going to the Fallot Moutaderie - the mustard factory. At the factory, Ben saw a stone mustard grinder for crushing mustard seeds. Next we got to make our own mustard by crushing mustard seeds with salt and verjus (which Ben thought smelt like vinegar) in a mortar and pestle. The tour guide said Mummy's mixture was excellent! ...
... at least in Paris, it enables you to skip the lines!!!!! And it also serves its intended purpose. We have been getting nice parking places.
Vaux le Vicomte is great. John and I had visited 25 years ago, but remembered that we liked it. The rooms are beautiful, the gardens by Le Notre as well. We greatly enjoyed it.

The winery was very interesting as well. The cellars were a bit creepy, but so authentic.
Our guide was very helpful, and knowledgeable. I wish I would have
acquired a taste for wine previously, because I could simply not enjoy

Eureka! Finally found my long sought-after typical Burgundian dish of oeufs en meurette (eggs poached in red wine sauce!) in a brassiere in Beaune, and they were delicious...so much so that I actually bought a little cookbook, entirely in French, that featured a recipe for the same eggs, plus recipes for many more of the regional dishes.
