Sremski Karlovci is really close to Novi Sad, only about twelve kilometres. I suggested a taxi as they're cheap enough and someone (Neil) had to help me drink Stephen's drinks. Initial impressions weren't deceiving. It is really quiet.

Small it is but at some stage in the not that ...

    Searching For The Butcher

... We were off. New Belgrade was built as a socialist utopia shortly after WWII. It was a massive Yugoslavian communist project, a concrete jungle of cubes and concrete and more concrete--street after street, block after block. Finding The Butcher's apartment would be easier said than done--like trying to find one individual Lego in a city built of millions of Legos. I did pass by another Serbian Church but was not as dominant in town as they were in Belgrade.

... old apartment blocks next to sparkling clean cathedrals etc. Walks over the dark Danube to the Fortress as the sun was going down. Watched them setting up the stage for the Exit festival, which sounds awesome with some great bands but is sadly due to start after I leave. Bizarrely I seem to have stumbled upon some sort of an international angling competition, and see the England team heading into McDees. Concert in the square at night.
