Annie: We have been totally overwhelmed by how lovely Nizhny Novgorod is! It is a beautiful small city at the joining of two rivers, Oka and Volga. We have had a very long day waiting for our train to depart at 11pm, so we spent all day walking, eating and just enjoy the amazing energy of this place. As somebody who is used to the...hospitality which one experiences in Moscow (or a complete lack of!!) I was very pleasantly surprised ...

James ate the last noodles, so nothing for me !!!! Said farewells to everyone once off the train. Our driver was waiting with a Mercedes - ...

We’d read about it and heard amazing travel stories from others who had ventured through Siberia - now it was our time to experience the Trans-Siberian rail journey for ourselves. The traditional Trans-Siberian route, is one of the longest in the world and runs from St Petersburg in the west of Russia, to Vladivostok in the far east of the country (bordering China). While the 6-day straight journey is an experience in itself, ...

... 500 meters because of three separate accidents and traffic conjestion.

The countryside is gorgeous, green, clean, and with clear blue skies. We are amazed that there seems to be very little air pollution in Russia, maybe because of all the forests and fields. Everything seems to be growing here, right to the road’s edge, a sign that there’s no water shortage.

It’s so handy having the GPS on ...
