The city I am in now, is the 5th largest one in Russia, with 1.25 million people. It is along the river Wolga, my first impression: very beautiful.
Had not a chance yet to make pic at daylight, looks nice at night too.

Our train to Perm departed in the evening so we checked out of the hostel at the last minute around noon. We spent the day exploring other parts of the city. We walked to the water and up to the kremlin then made our way back to the hostel to the pickup our bags and head to the station. Then we were back out into the main change room to sit and ponder our lives for a while and get our breath back, say "mate" a few more times, back into the shower area for another shower before heading back into the Pit of Despair once more. ... our fellow passengers were on the payroll of the Russian tourist board. Following on from the vodka, Leo pulls out cucumbers, bread and a huge slab of ham. He sends Alec to wash the cucumbers and begins chopping up the ham into thick slices. Clearly drinking vodka is an event. Alec returns and the small cucumbers are sliced lengthways. Started with thick cold fog, temp not above 12 degrees all day had to stop for coffee several times, think I have now overdosed on it.... Managed 554 miles but struggled at the end, knees worn out ... Due to age I guess. Some nice countryside, but no nice pictures as cloudy misty all day.
