    ... converted into a restaurant. As you walk in off the street you feel like you have been transported into 16th century Russia and you are visiting a wealthy merchant. You are surrounded by antique comfy furniture, kookoo clocks, old paintings and lots of rugs. You get presented with a huge samovar and some of the freshly made berry cake.     ... lie down under blanket. Everyone rushed out onto station platform and got wifi !! Cute pic of Liv, Willow and skull. So good to connect. Read mail and tried to send some. Was having a lie down when the attendant arrived to take away the sheets. Not the blankets, I don't think they wash those judging by the state of mine. Packed.     Yep, we have been gone for 7 weeks, or approx. 1/10th of the time we expect to be away.
    We arrived in Nizhny yesterday, and it is HOT! Even I have resorted to a sunhat. We took the option of a cheap hostel near the railway station. The rooms are tiny, but we didn't have to carry our bags far. Yesterday afternoon we walked as far as the bridge across the River Oka, which then merges into the even larger River Volga. ...
