... shops that make up Istanbul. Turns out I only had to look longingly out my window - yeah, literally I can see the shop looking out my window. Rows and rows of beer in fridges, everything from efes, to efes light and even efes dark! $30 lira later and I'd blown the budget, but oh well. At least the hotel we stayed had free bread for dinner. ... One interesting stop was the Pigeon Market. It is a little like the Bird Market in Hong Kong except, instead of song birds, the men bring their pigeons to show off their training and buy and sell the many coloured birds.

The Chora Museum was a highlight for me. Once a largish church built in the 11th century, it is now divided into the museum holding mosaics and frescos dating from the early 14th century and the remainder which is now a mosque.

... but if Turkey is on your places to visit list then make sure you coincide it with the Anzac Day dawn service, it will be one you never forget. Lest we forget. Some of my other Turkey highlights: Drinking Turkish coffee and being fed Turkish delight in one if the many Turkish sweet shops in Istanbul. Such a funny experience when the male shop assistants had me out the front of the store with a sultan hat on, knife in hand shouting 'welcome welcome!' ...

... even got a spare seat in our row which made it an easy and comfortable flight to Istanbul, Turkey! We landed then went to line up in the ridiculous line for passport control, it extended halfway down the airport after a few more flights came in! Crazy!
