The next morning leaving Paris for Le Mont Dore we found the metro and made it to our first train. The first train was meant to be 3 hours, about an hour in we were informed very casually through one of the passengers translating that the train would be stopping for at least a 2 hour delay due to a tree falling on the tracks. All the French tutted and sighed, and joked about how when the French say 1 hour they mean much longer. So the train stopped on the tracks in a deserted town ...

... lost we got hassled by a disgusting French man who couldn't speak any English and ended up spitting directly on sim. Our hotel was small and set in the Indian quarter of Paris, it was basic for one night and served our needs, (once we eventually found it that is!) Weekend trip to catch up with some mates.

We simply wandered around the streets of central Nimes, which is a small town with quite a large Ancient Roman influence.
Most of the time was spent around the Arena and the nearby streets, visiting cafes, restaurants and shops.

This morning we boarded our first "First class" train carriage and it was a pleasant surprise. Not the push and shove of standard class, reclining seats ans all that.

we had to change trains at Figurines for the remainder of the trip to Barcelona and this too was first class with plenty of room and free headphones and music. ...
