... br>The view out the windows was great. I see palm trees everywhere, wheeeeeeeeeeee!!!
It was soon time for both Carol's to go to work so we went to the park across the street from IBIS and waited for the bus to arrive. Felipe joined us as he works with them also. Roni showed up and took many photos, he is a master with a camera.
Roni and I waved goodbye to the others as they yelled out the windows as the bus left. It was a fun time.
On Friday I e-mailed Renata about the patients for Monday. Not hearing from her or seeing her Monday morning, I began to wonder about her. So, I went to the lab and Cassia said that she was not well. Then I sent an e-mail for Nilvana to see if she could do the interviews, only to get a response from her that she is on vacation this week! I returned to the lab, and Juliana said that Renata called saying she may have appendicitis and was ...
Campinas, State of Sao Paulo, Brazil redwoodmFor us who are living in the ocidental culture under capitalism rules, being out of work for 9 months, receive no income, pay for the regular monthly bills and also pay for the trip cost while travelling may be considered crazy for most people.
Travelling through Americas was a desire I had when I was in my 20+ age. I was young at that time and had great energy, but I had no money nor life ...
... ve been hoping Brasil would beat South Africa and the other teams they played. Now, it was the team I had been rooting for and my own country! During the first half the U.S. scored two goals and my family blamed me! (jokingly of course) So, I was on the side of the U.S. However, in the second 45 minutes, Brasil came back and beat us 3-2. Great game, though!
Campinas, State of Sao Paulo, Brazil redwoodmSo, it's the end of week 6, and I can’t believe how much time has flown by! I really need to get out of Campinas! This week was pretty much similar to the previous few weeks. We’ve been interviewing patients, and it was crazy how on Tuesday we had many patients and Friday none. Usually we have tons on Friday and very few on Tueday afternoons. Outside of interviews I’ve been working on polishing the database and trying to enter the SAS code I will need for the analysis. I ...
Campinas, State of Sao Paulo, Brazil redwoodm... better. What a difference a little soap and water can make to a so-ugly-you’re-kinda-cute dog. We went inside for lunch, which was feijoada and got to work preparing more food for tonight’s festivities. Then the skies grew dark and the power went out. Good thing the ...
Campinas, State of Sao Paulo, Brazil redwoodm... the best part of the party was the dance presentation. Two women did what appeared to be belly-dancing...muito bom!
Today, however, Cris, Bete, Wilma, and I went to the craft market in Campinas this morning. It was pretty neat to see so many vendors. I bought a pair of brincos, earrings, made of peixe escales, fish scales, for 4 Reais. Today for lunch we had polenta, the texture was like porridge, and of course rice and beans.
... br>OK, so they eat dinner REALLY late here! Tonight's jantar was sausage, rice and beans, spinach, lettuce, and fruit juice. I also spent some time reading an Agatha Christie book and any Portuguese reading material on the shelves that is simple enough for me to understand.
Tomorrow, I'm supposed to see the city with Bete (another sibling in the family)...hopefully I will feel comfortable speaking Portuguese!
