      Good Location & Facilities

The Park Inn is centrally located and has good facilities. The staff were friendly although it took some time to get someone to open the room safe which was locked when we booked in. It would get the extra star if it had a guest laundry. The nearest laundrette is Brights Laundrette which is a 12 minute walk away.

Back in Newark for a couple of days before we head to Rome on Monday.   On Friday we had a big walk and wondered through the city markets that are held on Fridays. Ellie has been nagging us to get her hair done so she booked in to a local  hairdresser and got it cut. We then went to Oscars, a local pub for dinner which was great. An open fire, a local jazz band (well couple of ageing rockers on the trumpet and clarinet singing ...

... I guess that's how it got its name. I loved the steep sheep country lined with stone walls. It's exactly how you imagine English country side. I think I really want to go back there and explore further. There's around 1000 miles of walking tracks throughout the national park, so plenty of options. After our trip north, we went out for dinner at the Belpher Inn with my friends from young ...

... tastefully. The side hedge in the back yard is still there, along with the sycamore tree and a willow tree. There is also now a hedge across the front of the front yard. We also told the lady about Andrew falling down the stairway a couple of times. That also brought us memories. It was great to see the house again.

... dinner we headed into a pub that was having Christmas carols but it was so busy and the carols were on break for 45mins so we headed home. The couple didn't sell Nottingham to us, making us think that we had made a mistake in booking for so long. Wednesday (18th) we headed into the city to meet up with Col Hoad's friend, Chris for coffee. He gave us an awesome tour of the town centre, filling us in on the town history and along the canal. Walked past the castle, statue ...
