    ... south on US 77, stopping in Junction City, Kansas for fuel. We paid $3.27/gal and got over 10 mpg on that tank. From there, we hopped on I-70 W toward Abilene, Kansas to tour the Eisenhower Library and Museum. As we drove, I saw a sign that said we were also following the Chisholm Trail. I think five different trails converge in this area: Santa Fe, Oregon, Chisholm, Pony Express and California I believe.

    Once again, Larry writes today.

    Today we headed north to Wichita, KS. In contrast to the park in Thackerville, OK, the one in Wichita was pretty new. Lots of concrete, not much in the way of trees. It sorta felt like we were camping on an airport runway. Good laundry, showers, and restrooms. (Hey, those things are important!)

    ... was 71 degrees and it never got above 75 all day long, dropping down into the low 60's later in the afternoon. Nice. We are hoping that we can make the drive across Kansas without experiencing the 105 to 107 degree temps that we enjoyed on our last drive through the state.
