... of the family see it later in the day without a ton of traveling back and forth. So we decided to see if the first come, first serve campground at Many Glacier was available. But alas, when we got to the visitor’s center at the St Mary entrance, they had a sign stating that it was already full. So we headed over to St Mary and setup camp.

... and drabs here and there, this snow was a metre thick in some spots and honestly once we got on it the only guidance we had of roughly where the track went was footprints left by others. To keep us on our toes there were also fallen trees over the track that required some climbing and manoeuvring. On the way up we were all pretty careful about staying dry and clean, that was until it started to rain. We all got absolutely soaked to the bones ...
... through the centre of the tent. The camp hosts offered ear plugs which we gratefully accepted. Whitefish was a very touristy place with some great restaurants and gift shops along the main street. We had some great pizza and a local micro brewery beer to wash it down. met some lovely Aussie ladies from Melbourne while late night grocery shopping in Safeway. Tomorrow we tackle The Going to the Sun Road in Glacier National ...
... back and eat lunch Go to Swiftwater Inn and charge the ipad; also check on shuttle to East Glacier and then get a ticket to take me from East Glacier to West Glacier on Wednesday that will save all the shuttle switching on the park shuttle westbound Get a quick sighting of a bull moose but try to see black bears that have been spotted on the trail to no avail Back at the lake ...
Tuesday 23rd July
Up early and left at 6:30am to do the 'Going to the Sun Road' here in Glacier National Park. A spectacular scenic drive which is only open in the summer months as it is all snowed in at winter time. The road climbs up to an altitude of about 8,000ft and passes through Logan Pass at the summit of the drive and then down the other side. Places to pull over on the way, to take photos and check out the scenery. ...
