... own life to save those of other people who have got themselves into trouble at sea. They don’t get paid for this, they just do it and I didn’t realise until this visit that they do not get one single penny as an organisation from the government, they are completely charity funded – i.e. donations from people.
We find a tearoom overlooking the beach to have some lunch in and then move on up the ...
... which was ordered to be destroyed, along with many others, during the dissolution of the monasteries commanded by Henry VIII in 1537. The audio guide tells you about the history of the priory and also tells a story from a monks point of view of living in the monastery and after. During the tale of the monk, there are various points where monks chanting can be heard in the background – I really like this 'music', it’s haunting and really brought the place to ...
Titchwell, England, United Kingdom travelmonster... however unfortunately we made it to skegness with time to spare. We parked up and had a walk along the beach front the clatter of fruit machines and the cry of the bingo caller following us down the street as we moved past the arcades.
As 7:30 drew nearer I was really looking forward to the laughs ahead and we made our way into the theater and our seats. U19 and U20 right in the middle. We climbed past about 20 really happy people eagerly and not ...
We wnet to Skegness for the first time in 5 years then found out we had booked in at the same Touring site too. Though this was a trip to take Grand-daughters for birthday treats so we raied the internet for Bogoff tockens for Natureland and The Pleasure beach even found ...
Skegness, England, United Kingdom madcaravanner... of the more prominent British seaside town of Skegness, the drama unfolded. This trip was actually a 'family gathering' of sorts, and involved an 'indoor' version of what was to be intended as an outdoor barbeque (blame the weather!), followed by a trip the following morning into the oh-so-bracing seaside resort town of Skegness. While amusement complexes line the seafront, and shops line the High Street, the town itself has weathered ...
Skegness, England, United Kingdom jollyjetsetter... down wouldn’t be needed as it was already clean enough. As we moved the bike into the dangerous cargo area, Connie’s wreck…I mean bike…arrived.
Before taking it off the flatbed, I had a chance to look over the bike and the damage. It actually wasn’t as bad as it first seemed to me on the side of the road…mind you, I was in a different state of mind at that point. There was damage to the very front of ...
... can get anything to eat, providing its deep fried with chips. Lucky my cousin saved us from cholesterol overload by providing us with delicious meals. I visited my old home and was shown the actual room I was born in.
We then caught the train to York where we are staying for the next four days. "ee, ain't it grand"
... and downloaded yesterdays photos etc. And the time passed by very quickly…
I used the Watherspoon ladies to freshen up. That toilet was definately more fresh than I was. Every 30 seconds there were a puff of refreshing scent sprayed in the air… (This beacause the most cold and horrible toilet, without any mirror, was definately the Axe&Cleaver ladies. It wins the price of the most horrible toilet I have ever been in ;D)
So as I was late and after ...
... We were the only tenters. The rain had stopped a bit, so put up the tend and then drove back down the road for some fish and chips- not too bad. After dinner we decided to go for a walk, but it was already so dark we couldn’t see a thing. The toilets had no light either…or warm water… So got into bed, it was only 9.30pm! It was freezing cold, so not the best sleep.
Snettisham, England, United Kingdom nomads06... and Nikita packed their overnight bags and headed off with dad to spend the night out, Bronte at Aunty Pat's and Nikita at Aunty Shelia's. Mum, dad and I then searched through every drawer, under every couch, behind every door and inside every cupboard to make sure that we had packed everything and left nothing behind. We set our alarms for early the next morning and eventually headed off to bed at 11.30pm after finally almost packing all the suitcases.
