Just 50 miles north of Mo i Rana the Polar Circle crosses the main E6 and you can take out your mobile phone and call your wife if she is at home, the signal is remarkably good!
There is the inevitable visitor centre built across the line, 66 degrees 33 minutes north, and you can stand either side for the compulsory photo, which I did.

... We are soon asleep to the rocking and swaying motions of the train. We awake occasionally as the train goes round sharpish bends and sways over. At 07:30 the announcement is made for breakfast and the approach of Fauske station. We get dressed and go the the "buffet" car to get a cup of coffee and drink it while watching the fascinating scenery pass. We return to the cabin and make our breakfast of meusli and eat it sitting ...
