... thick sheets of ice- it took us about 15 minutes to get there just to be told it was cancelled due to bad weather- fine by us! We rebooked for tomorrow and headed back to our cosy cabin until it got a bit brighter. At about 11 we decided to explore the town, 5,000 people live in svolvaer and the main town revolves around the square and the docks, we bumped into our friendly Norwegian from the night before and he said we should go to the war museum just off ...

... breach and just couldn't believe our luck! The sun had set and the fishing boats which were also out in the fjord turned on their lights as the sky went from blue to grey, the captain knew I hadn't been in the water and said we'd give it one last try on our way back as it was getting dark - I didn't think luck was going to be on my side but it had been so awesome and we'd seen so many more whales than I could ever hope for I didn't mind, just outside the harbour the engines went ...

... back over to Borg because I was quite excited about the Vikings. There's a permanent Viking museum there, but this weekend there had also been a Viking festival - basically lots of Viking enthusiasts who dress as Vikings and camp in the woods and make Viking stuff to sell and throw axes and sail longboats around the lake.
