... thick sheets of ice- it took us about 15 minutes to get there just to be told it was cancelled due to bad weather- fine by us! We rebooked for tomorrow and headed back to our cosy cabin until it got a bit brighter. At about 11 we decided to explore the town, 5,000 people live in svolvaer and the main town revolves around the square and the docks, we bumped into our friendly Norwegian from the night before and he said we should go to the war museum just off ...

... was throwing his metal axe at the wooden board and another was simultaneously retrieving his from the same board. Fortunately no-one got an axe to the back of the head because that's the last thing you need on holiday. In the museum I learned more about Norse Mythology and Ragnarok, which was exciting for me.
