We stopped off at Trondheim on our way north. This was a cute little city (the 3rd largest city in Norway). It has a massive gothic church there and the town itself is quite lovely. We wandered around for a bit and looked at the river and Monks island across the water which was pretty cool. We then kept going and stopped off at a little village called Hell. How cool is that!! Unfortunately there was no welcome to Hell sign which would have been ...

After a short stop for supplies back in Dombas, we headed north to a Trondheim for a stop around lunchtime. Trondheim, one of the larger cities in Norway, celebrated it's 1000 year anniversary in 1997 and the main focal point is the large Nidaros Cathedral near it's centre.
The next stop was a great place - Hell! Only a small establishment ...
Jeg hadde tross alt all verdens tid.
Dingsbums. Jetzt noch ein kleiner Einblick ...
Reppe, Norway anne-i-norge... girls, me, the mother and the brother. KERGHINGGGGG!!!!!! Somebody upstairs likes me. Unfortunately i am no Casanova, let alone trying to chat one up in my limited Norwegian; so i settled to admire from a distant probably a good move, as i was surrounded by young dentists, doctors, teachers and an explosive expert. Those who know me, know that my track record with trainee doctors and dentists is poor, also 9 girls could inflict alot of ...

I wanted to ski and there's a small slope in Selbu. As I was approaching the slope, I met another driver who wasn't very polite (not yielding on the narrow road) so I ended up getting stuck in the deep snow. I had to call my sister for help and it took exactly 6 minutes before a farmer with a tractor showed up and pulled me out. He was the nicest guy and tried to made me not feel extremely stupid for getting stuck in the snow, and said it happened all the time. (As if!)

... Society and Culture classmate/international student coordinator/person Rita Strandbakke took the international students studying in Hamar to her hometown of Dokka, to give us a different perspective of Norway that we see from the train from Oslo to Hamar. We enjoyed all sorts of things, such as the Folk House Museum, walking around the small downtown, going to her family's farm (about 60 people live in her hometown, and she's related to most of them!), a visit to her house, and ...
Trondheim, Norway olsencvThe lovely weather continued for our visit to Trondheim. Because of a fire the traditional early buildings had been replaced by wide streets. Altogether a much larger place than Tromso. Still spectacular in many ways. Lovely cathedral - with facade apparently modelled on Lincoln cathedral. How did people in the Middle Ages manage to travel so far and build such structures?
