The Camino de Santiago was completely out of my comfort zone and entirely worth it! I was able to fully open my heart to Christ through my sufferings and allow Him to work in me as I journeyed across Spain with my amazing brothers and sisters in Christ. Through my suffering and silent time with Him, the Lord gave me a whole new meaning to "I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life" - a verse that I will carry with me ...

          The Big Takeaways

A travel blog entry by brittanyspieker on Jul 30, 2015

... uneasy about the whole concept of evangelization especially since part of my mission in Spain was evangelization. I viewed it as people shooting off bible verses to prove/disprove what someone else had to say about their faith, and of course, I didn’t want any part of putting someone else down to make myself feel better. Needless to say, I was very hesitant about this whole part of the pilgrimage. Thank the Lord that my ...

A Day in the Life of this Pilgrim

A travel blog entry by brittanyspieker on Jul 28, 2015

General Schedule of a Day on the Camino
Each day varied greatly depending on the distance being walked, where we stopped to eat throughout the day, who we met, the weather, etc. This is just an example of one particular day.

          • 4:30 am: wake up
          • 5:00 am: eat a small breakfast that was bought the night before, pray, and start walking
          • 8:00 am: second breakfast (which usually consisted of coffee with milk and either a pastry or bacon, eggs, ...

... boarded our plane and found out that a vast majority of our team had been split up all over the airplane. I was really looking forward to being able to hang out with the team a little more and I was quite sad when I wasn't sitting by any of the team. Although I wasn't sitting by any of the team, I was able to sit by the window and chat with the lady beside me, Katelynn.
