    So a quiet day today, having covered over 2000 miles in a week we decided to have a lazy day. We started on a route to hammerfest but I remembered I had let the windows in the cabin open so after 30 miles we turned back, arriving about 10 ish.     Not quite so far to go today only about 250 miles. After a good breakfast and having been woken early by the sunshine at 2am we decided to leave early. So we left the small (very small) town of Pajala alias pyjama alias paella in Swedish Lapland in glorious sunshine and headed north.     Woke to sunshine!! First we went to the Arctic" Cathedral", built in 1965,( same year as the Sydney Opera House) and truly outstanding . Then to the Polar Museum, in an 1840s building on the harbour, with exhibits on Amundsen's exploration and trapping /hunting through the years.     ... children would say a few words accompanied by a photographic presentation they had prepared themselves. A few of the children were dressed in traditional clothing, one little boy looked quite aristocratic.
    Following their presentation the children were given tea and pastries and then taken on a tour if the ship.

    It has been a fantastic 3 days here in The Arctic Circle.

    ... the country lane alongside the river, overnight there must have been a small snowfall as we saw animal tracks in the newly fallen snow.

    The temperature had fallen overnight to -18 but it was so peaceful and calm outside with a wonderful wintry landscape - all you could hear was the scrunch of your boots as you walked in the snow. It was magical!
