The cannoli was great but not much selection by the time we got there. It was then time for dinner but we took a cab to rest a little. Dinner was spent in piazza navona at restaurant in the centre. We then decided to make it an early night and turned in for the night as we knew we had a big next ...

Didn't quite know where we were but a very helpful chap told us what bus to get on. Another good ...

The old fashioned Rose garden runs gently down the valley and was at its fragrant and stunning best and ...

There are a lot of motorbikes and crazy drivers here. This is a seismic region - the teutonic plates shift every year. Bridge- $630,000 million Euros. Rio Antirio Bridge 12 million people. Approx 2000 islands. Red soil=bauxite Invaded by many, Turks held longest occupation. Lunch at a beachfront restaurant. ...

... as a retreat from Rome for the Roman Emperor Hadrian in the first half the 2nd century AD. Prior to this time most Villas were utilitarian abodes, a mixture or residence and farm, however a change of focus came about to make villas more of a show of wealth and standing. During the later years of his reign, Hadrian governed the empire from the villa. A large court lived there permanently in the mini town and a postal service kept the Villa in contact with ...
