... there was a 2pm bus it was perfect! When we tried to buy the tickets (by pointing to numbers) the lady just shook her finger at us...we were slightly confused. After much non verbal communication we understood our only option was an over night bus leaving at 10:30. Overnight buses are never fun or restful, but the bus company (called metro) is suppose to be the "top of the line". We will let you know how it goes!

... young people milling around. There was a positive energy to the city and I'm glad I left Sofia to see more of this country.

The hostel again cooked up a dinner. Some chilli/rice thing that was baked in the oven, served with a beer. How sweet. The hostel also offered free breakfast, I must have eaten half a loaf of bread, with some chopped up tin ham! Not bad.

... I would've ended up in God Knows Where, as it is very difficult to make any sense out of the Bulgarian language/road signs. Bulgarian consists of the Cyrillic alphabet (Bulgarian is similar to Russian...Nikolay informed us that the Bulgarian language predates the Russian language).

... cycling. We did the 56 miles very quickly and stopped only once for a 20 minute petrol station sandwich. We have now clearly evolved into machines which only refuel at service stations. We have also sophisticated our cycling outfits with bright orange washing up gloves ( I believe they are called 'Marigolds?'). We bought them in the supermarket as a way of waterproofing our expensive waterproof gloves! They work ...
