Florence, Tuscany, Italy frdrick... 150 years to complete, I was surprised to learn that it is the fourth-largest cathedral in the world! In addition to the interior of the church, which was vast but also surprisingly sparse, we saw the campanile (bell tower) and the large detached baptistry (with absolutely stunning gold doors) of the Duomo. (You may think we’re cathedral-ed out by this point, but seriously – these churches keep getting more and more interesting! The ...
... kitchen.I went down later that eveing to chat to the people staying there and marvel at the double bed inthe kitchen.
Really quiet in the off saeason with a lot of places noteven bothering to open or open reduced hours.
Was sitting outside the only bar in RioMaggore and Jess who I shared a dorm room with in Salzburg walked past. Turns out she's staying in the same dodgy room as me again!
Was lucky there was a bunch of good people ...
... Michelangelo really preferred being a sculturer to a painter, but we were able to see one of his paintings - "the Doni Holy Family". Raphael definitely sounded like a character. We wandered around listening to stories for close to 2 hours. In the piazza outside the Uffizi there were several statues, including a copy of Michelangelo's "David". We then walked to the market. There we sadly saw that they were closing up ...
Florence, Tuscany, Italy cheer4lvw... 10% off for being a student.
after that i roamed around the Santa Croce piazza to look for a leather purse. i have been looking along the markets and have not been able to find something i really like. a lot of the market sellers are those who just sell the ones manufactured and sent over in large quantities. those are made in less quality and not that pretty. i found one in this store that i passed on my way to the scuola del cuoio. the man was ...
Ciao, We have arrived by auto from Monticiano, our home away from home, and have just come from 2 gelato stops, one panini stop and the Academia to see the other David. A splendid city. It is warm and overcast but we are comfortable. We await our personal tour guide for a more in depth view of this Tuscan wonder.city. Monticiano is what we imagined living in small-town italia is like. Only the patron at the local wine bar ...
Florence, Tuscany, Italy stoebnerworfolk... satchel around his shoulder. He looked rushed, sweaty, and had a different kind of desperation in his voice. I was with my momma, and just so happened to have one Euro coin in my pocket, and I figured he was being truthful. After I gave him the coin, he quickly walked towards the train bins and disappeared between two trains that were about to leave. If all that was a scam for one Euro at a time, I guess the guy earned it. We caught the last train back and made it to the hotel before passing out.
