Noosa and all that Jazz

... a minute and soon the steam was rising off the damp pavements drying in ther sun. We decided to drive on into Noosa and found the town centre which was hosting a jazz festival all weekend. Noosa has really nice town centre with cafes, bars and restaurants with a few expensive shops to boot. We drove around to the 'spit' which had a great vista of the bay and Noosa beach front where people were kite surfing. Noosa is a really beautiful place and I ...

We did a quick walk
up the main high street then went to catch the free bus home. Dean
was starving, so we opted for pizza again rather than cooking. Tewantin - Noosa

... of nowhere and it was beautiful. There were kangaroos lazing about on the range and they weren't worried about balls hitting them! Mind you mine wouldn't have gone anywhere near them as I can get no distance with my shots - that's when I actually hit the balls! Other than that Steve was cycling everywhere each morning and I had my markets to go to, Eumundi, the farmers market and the Tewantin jetty ...

The Noosa Festival of Surfing

... Wilson also surfed in a final heat today but i didn't stick around long enough to find out the results. after the men's invitational heat ended we walked further along the beach to the Noosa National Park to try and see some wildlife (and of course, more surfies). it may have been the surf festival or maybe it was because of the really good surf, but man, they were EVERYWHERE. there were quite a few more breaks along the NP and though i didn't see any koala.... i did see a goanna!

... sympa.

Eucalyptus everywhere - where are the gumtrees?

A rude awakening in the cramped hostel room in the morning when a guy next bunk to us spewed on himself. Hmm... is this how it's going to be staying in hostels? We were out of the room faster than you could imagine although surprisingly it didn't smell. Much. Anyway, not pleasant... This time we had more luck with the cars although we did end up running like headless chickens to get to the rental office on time. What is it with the buses of Brisbane? We had missed ...

Arrived at my home for a year

... went past northern BC and part of western Alaska before heading south west. There was still light so you could see the mountains looking out the plane window. Luckily there was enough light that I was able to take a few photos. The unfortunate part of the flight was the couple sitting directly in front. They did not sleep until about three hours before the plane landed in Hong Kong International (11 hours into the ...

... beach we visited the Maheno shipwreck and took some great photos -it washed ashore in the 1930's when being towed to Japan as scrap. It's now a big rusty wreck that you aren't allowed to climb on because of the dangerous eroded edges. It was very impressive and with the sand around it and the sea behind, we wandered around for quite some time in awe of the massive structure, trying to recreate what it would have been like when it was afloat. The next stop was ...
