Melbourne is quite frankly; amazing. After watching England get well and truly trounced by the All Blacks in a pub (full of Kiwis by the way, i was the sole Englishman in there and got hammered every time England got turned over, missed a kick, dropped the ball, conceded a try...... by the mini part of New Zealand in Melbourne, but in a fun, jovial way, nothing nasty) just sat around talking and having a few drinks with the various inhabitants of the inn, who were funny, down to earth and gen...
Melbourne, Victoria, Australia alwill120th June - Went on the Great Ocean Road tour!! Had the best guide ever! He was so excited about absolutely everything!! :-) We stopped off at Bell's Beach for tea and biscuits by the beautiful view. We drove through Anglesea and stopped off at Split Point Lighthouse which is the lighthouse from one of our childhood programmes - ROUND THE TWIST!! So we were very excited lol. Then we stopped off at the Great Ocean Road sign (where it started) for some pictures etc. Then we went to Lorne!! Wher...
Melbourne, Victoria, Australia amyboxshallMy last couple of days in Bali were pretty uneventfull as it chucked it down on Friday so I was pretty much confined to my room watching bad movies on the TV. I did get out and do some shopping though and managed to buy loads of stuff I don't need as the sellers were so pushy. Saturday was gorgeous though so it was more sunbathing before packing my stuff and checking out to go to Oz. Met a lovely girl called Alex on the plane who I was chatting to for ages before she told me she was only 17 a...
Melbourne, Australia belljoHello all! I made it here in one piece. There were lots of delays but I didn't really mind. My flight out of Chicago was 4 hours late (the toilets were clogged on one plane, then another plane didn't work) causing me to miss my flight out of LA to Sydney. The airline put me up in a fancy hotel, and I got to hang out with my friend Dennis in LA for a day so it worked out great. I've pretty much just walked around the city so far and of course I went out last night, and now it's the weekend. It...
Melbourne, Victoria, Australia bethpelletier Linzi drove me over to the Crime Scene/Forensic Facilities today.
I met with the senior officer in charge of the Crime Scene Unit. Interestingly here all of the CSI's are sworn police officers and the plan is to stay this way in Victoria.
The unit also houses the forensic services (scientists) teams here too.
The CSI's have distinct roles at crome scenes and they will either be photographer, forensic collection officer or have a fingerprint expert come into the scene to s...
The sun has finally come out in Melbourne and what better way to spend it than catching a tram to St Kilda beach. The sea breeze was fantastic and I decided to have a seafood lunch in a cafe and watch the world go by. I also walked the pier they have here and got a little sun on my shoulders too!!
On the way back, I stopped off at the War Memorial and spoke to an Australian guy who married a Brit during the War. What a nice man and it made me think of Remembrance Sunday which will be u...
So I finally made it to Australia as I landed in Melbourne it was time to head to my hostel,
I was staying at the Melbourne connection and I have to say that it was a DIVE but enough of my moaning.
I decided to explore and see what Melbourne had to offer I took a walk to the DFO which is a shopping centre had a walk around there for a while and a few of the other streets and headed back to the hostel and chatted to some of the fellow travellers and had a few beers with them.
16th February 2007 - Melbourne Today we travel to Australia - we can't believ that the South-East Asia leg of our trip is over already but are both looking forward to the change of pace and scenery that Australia will bring. Got to Melbourne with no problems; after the 10-hour bus journeys a 6-hour flight is a doddle. On arrival at Melbourne we get the Sky Bus to the city and then a free transfer to our hostel (Nomads Industry) which was great. The hostel is a bit like being in a Halls of Res...
Melbourne, Australia danielandrachelWe're still in Melbourne, not far off being here 2 weeks now, but moving onto Canberra tomorrow so thought i'd write about the last week in Melbourne before i go. the last time i updated i had just been on the mammoth day and night neighbours tour/experience. meaning tuesday was obviously a bit of a day of chilling out and recovering. think all i actually did was mess about on the net and then a bit of laundry (not every day can be exciting and different!!). however in the evening something m...
Melbourne, Australia davidb123uk2We have spent the last few nights in Melbourne and have loved it! On Monday we managed to meet up with Karen again as she was spending a long weekend in Melbourne at her friend John's. We met them in St Kilda where Karen once again was the perfect tour guide, taking us along the beach and the pier and all around St Kilda's quaint little streets. We stopped for coffee but the cafe was too posh so we moved on to find a lunch venue! We settled on a harbour side cafe bar which did good lunch food...
