... However, such had been our delays, that it was by now late - too late for much of the Souk which was in process of closing for the night. There was barely time for a quick look round before another march to the "nearby" metro station. At length, just as I had decided to abandon myself to the mercy of the street, my loving wife propelled me into the blissfull air-conditioning of the escalator.

... We are all footsore and weary after Day 1 but more particularly because we have not had a good sleep since Saturday night in Brisbane. We hope to get restful sleep tonight.

Tuesday 5 May 15 - A good night's sleep !! Over 8 hours - very unusual for me anyway. 6:30am and already 32 degrees with a forecast 36. The haze has continued and visibility is limited to about 2-3 kilometres. A good breakfast in the hotel dining room.

All this in the name of getting to the famous/infamous Bangkok where the start of my real adventure all on my ownsome lonesome begins. Needless to say I am so excited to see what S.E Asia has in store for me over the next 3 months! I hope everyone at home is well and living life to the fullest...BECAUSE we do only live once! All my love and lots of hugs from across the ocean ...

... tower. The other is a 24 storey building, each floor having just 5 rooms. Very opulent indeed. I know we booked a 3 bedroom suite given dad is with us and we plan to keep costs down by self catering, but I wonder what floor we will be on? Check in was pretty painless but our room wasn't ready. It isn't required to be ready until 15:00pm but after waiting just 40 minutes the room was available, and boy oh boy what a room! ...

... I was aiming for. A bit pricey at $180NZD but well worth it. After the trip up the tower it was time for s bit more shopping. Also had a look at the indoor aquarium in the middle of the mall. It was huge and even had sharks in it. After that it was back to the hotel to freshen up for dinner. We went to The Hard Rock Cafe for a drink and ...
