Gee lucky we had done some activity because it was a huge meal and only about $17 per person. After being home a bit, we needed to go for a walk due to still being massively full from lunch. We got dropped into town for a wander but cut it short a bit cos the drizzle began and then turned to snows. I'm lying in our warm room and have ...

Today is the day to venture up to the Japanese Alps to Myokokogan. Marina was lovely enough to drop us over to the train rather than us having to go all the way back down to Nagano and back up on the other line. The train had few other tourist looking mobs on it heading up to the ski resorts. It was a pretty journey up through the hills with the snow getting deeper and deeper. We ...

Next were some steamed buns, similar to Chinese style but a bit flatter. I had a red bean paste one and an eggplant and Scott had a red bean paste and a vegetable. They were delicious. Further down the road we got a whiff of a yummy smelling smell and found a bakery and had to try an apple pie. Lost ...

... the group were soaking in there all nice and warm. Apart from the crowds of people jostling for a good spot to take photos, it was a lovely experience. The little puffy ones were running around and chasing each other, one grabbed a guys lens and looked straight into it, very cute. They have massively thick fur and many of them huddle up together keeping warm and preening. It is amazing how close you can get to them,I'm was ...

... stops and pretty easy to navigate. Ueno station was huge and we finally found the right ticket office to get out pass from. After this we went and got some food to take on the train for lunch. There was a place which had lots of choices so we got a mix, some gyoza, some rice with beans and some yakkitori chicken skewers. It was all lovingly wrapped in tons of plastic for the bin! The train journey itself was lovely, nice comfy seats, great view of the snowy hills beyond. It ...
