      ... the onsen. It really was a brilliant experience and well worth the 3300yen (roughly £20) I had paid to get there and the drenching I had got on the way. On the coach journey back the sky had cleared up slightly, allowing for full views of the impressive mountainous scenery and orchard fields that surround the basin in which Nagano sits. Tomorrow I plan to have a brief look around Nagano before heading to Matsumoto to visit the castle ...

      ... That whole meal cost 610yen (AUD$6.70) between the both of us. So far, this is the cheapest meal that we have had short of the odd sandwich or so. Unfortunately, we had to stop at a supermarket and ended up with yet another box of chocolates and a packet of the mochi dessert. Hopefully, all the walking that we have been doing will negate what we are eating.

      ... We were then driven back to hotel for breakfast at 7.30am. Bags out at 8.30am to be delivered for us to a baggage collection centre at Shinano-Omachi.

      We caught the train at Unazuki Onsen to go Tateyama. From there, we caught a cable car to Bijodaira which meant "beautiful woman". Then it was a bus to Murado, which was about the highest point that we could go at 2450m. We stayed there for a little while as ...
