... the video as that story nearly ruined the whole day. Let’s just say they were using old CPUs and disk drives to make the video DVDs.

Anyway, all in all this was a great day. Dan and the kids and I did not stay in town to do any shopping though because the kids had had enough and Dan had had more than enough of the pushy vendors. I was amazed at his restraint with the lady who wanted to put his hair and beard in corn rows. Mom and Andy stayed in town a little while ...
Ocho Rios, Jamaica adellegThe ship docks at Ochos Rios in Jamaica so we decided to just do a little shopping onshore .Jamaica is a fairly poor country so competition is very strong for any sort of business that they can get. After you leave the ship it's a kilometre walk down to a few shopping centres. About 15 different people asked if we wanted a taxi and then once in the stores the store ...
Ocho Rios, Jamaica youngsinusa2009... health things. We set up the clinic at the school on tuesday. I took peoples blood pressure before they went in to see the doctors. On wednesday we finished the health clinic and then handed out cloths that were donated from the states. After the clinic we traveled to May Pen, Clarendon to visit some Family and get some mangos, breadfruit, apples, june plums, and naseberrys. Friday I went with Tony and Hilary to Dunn's ...
Alva, Jamaica phantom1212Ocho is an interesting city, divided by a straight line, on one side (from the center to the port), relatively safe area day and night, upscale boutique, restaurants and on the other side, the chaos and not so safe area. There are a few hundreds meters of beachfront.
Ocho Rios, Jamaica gratien... all went. Zip-lining is when you are in a harness that hangs on a steel cable tied between trees and you slide or 'zip' on the cable from tree to tree leaping from one platform and landing on another one. You travel at speeds up to 40 mph and you can be very high off the ground. It is not for the faint hearted or someone afraid of heights but it is very exhilarating for those ...
Ocho Rios, Jamaica thetraveldogWaking up on the 18th was easy as we had an early night previously. The early morning monsoon that struck the coast, left air humand and sticky. It was a good day for the beach. The lady recommended a good beach that was in walking distance that would save us cash. The Carib (what she recommended) was **** quite frankly! A piddly little thing swamped by bus loads of tourists ...
Ocho Rios, Jamaica clintonb... miss him, big tall guy, with the heart and voice of a pussy cat. Chances are you might see him late at night in the piano bar, if so ask him to sing "Redemption Song" by Bob Marley. If you like Reggae, you'll be happy you did.

Dining

So, by now you should know that I'm a big fan of food. Fortunately there is plenty to choose from here. The brick oven Pizza at the Pizzeria Del Campo is to die for. Don't be afraid to ...
Ocho Rios, Jamaica caribbean_fever... At the end of your climb you can buy a DVD of you and your friends making the climb just to prove to those back home you did indeed conquer this feat!! On our way back to the boat we stopped at a couple of shopping malls. Shopping in Ocho Rios is great because you can get some really cool stuff for very cheap! Every thing from jewelry and watches to real local ...
Ocho Rios, Jamaica lilpianodude... fortunate to have a supervisor that allows me my freedom; he is very "hands off" and I appreciate that. I think the majority of volunteers have a stricter schedule, where they either go to the office or they must call in. The situation at my office just doesn't support my presence there every day since I no longer have a guaranteed work space. I do consider myself a fortunate PCV because I do have access to a computer more days than not, which isn't always the case in lesser ...
Ocho Rios, Jamaica jennipostThis was a horrible nasty little place I hope to never see again. When you walk down the street, it is filthy and taxi drivers nag at you and then throw insults when you refuse to take a taxi. I Came. I Saw. I LEFT! One almost saving feature of this hideous place was swimming in the water, but even that turned south when I felt what I believe to be a sewer pipe under my feet.
