Day 1 - Hotel Spa and Castell de Bellver

When I first got to the hotel I was really tired and I went to the hotel really quick to get a massage and go out on my historical quest. A bit after the spa i went to a consention stand and bought a delicious churo. I got to the castle by taxi, there where plenty of taxis everywhere. I first went to the Castell de Bellver it was very nice, I learned plenty on my visit there. To get there since I was obviously a tourist I need to take a taxi there. One fact that I thought was cool was that it...

Day 2

On the second day I decided to wake up early and eat some complemantary breakfast at the hotel and make my way by bus to the docks to get on the ferry, so that I could go to Cabrera and into Cova Blava. The approximate time on the ferry was 5 hours, that was a very long time in the sun. Thank God I packed a hat,sun glasses, water, snacks, and plenty of sunscreen! Cova Blava was very beautiful, it is historical because it is really beautiful cave in which boats can pass through. And it just be...

Day 4 - Last Historical Activity

Buenos Dias amigos! Hoy es el ultimo dia que voy a visitar un lugar historico. Today I went to the Naveta D'es Tudons, at around 10 am, it is a prehistoric building very old which was lter oin used as a tomb. I thought it was pretty cool seeing the building and how it was still in great shape, it was approxiamtely built in the 15th century. I went to the tomb and I wore a skirt, sunglasses, sunscreen, and a hat; it was pretty warm. Initial Budget at Day 4 - $5487.86 Pancakes and milk- $ 12 Bu...

Day 5 -Relaxing Time! Woot Woot!!!

Today I felt like relaxing in the comfort of my beautiful Seaview Room, I woke up late like around 10:30 am, right on time for room cleaning. I got up and headed straight for the outdoor pool, and I swam until 12 pm, I decided to get out and head back to the room and bathe. Then I went to a near by restaurant and ate a gourment sandwhich with a glass of limeonade, then I went to the beach right in front of the Nixe Palace. I saw some really cute guys heading for the waves so I decided to rent...

Day 6 - Spa Day and other stuff

España tiene bonitas playas! Spain has really pretty beaches, they are magnificent and they are many of them! Today I woke up and ate an omlett at the hotel restaurant, it was delicious! After that I decided to take a ferry to another Cova, this time it was Cova del Coloms. It was a really pretty cave in a beautiful canyon leading down from Es Migjorn Gran to the coast. When I came back to the hotel I was starving so I just grabbed a bite there. Then I purchased a plane ticket to Barcelona an...

Historical Traveler Reviews of Nixe Palace Hotel Palma

Enjoyed the Hotel Nixe Palace

from MGads
We chose the Hotel Nixe Palace as a place that would not be in the centre of Palma's 'famous' nightlife and were not disappointed. We visited for only 4 days, but found the location, rooms, food and staff to be very good - just the quiet, relaxing mini-break we were after. The extra charge for a 'sea-view' room was a good recommendation - very lovely scenery and much nicer than the views from the front of the hotel. We never experienced anything other than helpfulness from the hotel staff, even if the restaurant/bar prices are a bit steep. We also discovered several pleasant restaurants (Argentine, Morrocan, Italian) a short walk from the hotel which provide a bit more local colour and cheaper prices. Also, the beach is kept to a very high standard and given that it's literally at the bottom of the hotel steps, is hard to beat for convenience!

Care with the room booking

from otl
We booked through Expedia and learned our lesson. A standard room at the Nixe Palace is in fact a back room with no balcony and a view of the bins! It cost us another 240 euros to upgrade to a sea view room with balcony for the rmaining 6 days of our hols.

But the extra was worth it because the hotel is in a spectacular position, on a beautiful beach.

Breakfasts cost another 13 euros per person per day but are incredible - so much choice and the service is good too.

Room cleaning is a little suspect. When we changed rooms our new room had sweet wrappers and a half chewed sweet on the floor under the bed.

The hotel is on the outskirts of Palma - not really walkable, but an easy bus ride into the centre.

Watch your bill at the end of your stay - we had a mini bar charge added to ours in error. Hotel restaurant is also incredibly expensive.

Reception staff swing between very helpful and friendly to the downright miserable and rude.

Overall, this is a lovely place to stay as long as you don't expect perfection. The little niggles mentioned above did not ruin our holiday, although we wouldn't stay there again. Cala Mayor is a very strange place - no atmosphere and nothing to see. There are much better places on the island.

HOTEL FROM HELL

from DONDINERO
THIS IS A 1 STAR LODGE WITH 5 STAR PRICE!.DO NOT GO THERE EVER! The staff is very unpolite, the other guests (mainly germans) were apparently sleeping day and night in there rooms because we got a warning for a quiet conversation at 11 in the evening in our terrace, or playing music at the pool at 11 in the morning. Then the hote staff itself arranged a wedding after these warnings at saturday night and kept lot of noice untill 4 am.

Moreover the cleaning up the rooms was terreble, if you stayed close by the kitchen, you had to get up at 5 every morning because of the noice from preparing the breakfast. THIS TIME WAS DEFINITELY LAST TIME IN THIS PLACE, EVEN THOUGH THE SITUATION, VIEW AND THE ARCITECTURE OF THE BUILDING ITSELF WAS BEAUTIFUL. I would rather stay in a 3 star hotel with nice guests and friendly staff than in this kind of overpriced 1 star hotel, this atmosfore ruined our vacation.

Heaven on Mallorca

If you want to go to a beautiful island, this is the place for you!!! The hotel is fabulous, the location is excellent, the service outstanding and the food delicious! I can't praise this place enough. There is shopping and restaurants withing walking distance. Our room was big, clean, comfortable and the bathroom was all done in marble or was it granite? We went to sleep every night being lulled by the waves of the Mediteratnian crashing on the beautiful beach below us. It was a little piece of heaven. We'd go back in a minute! Because we went in Apri it was a little bit preseason, but the weather was comfortable and sunny and we avoided the crowds.

Absolutely immaculate

from JADLondon
I stayed here in a twin room over Easter 2005. The room had a balcony facing the sea and was clean - everything about the hotel is immaculate, however as you approach it from the back you would never imgine there was such quality in Cala Major! Public spaces were beautiful and the terraces are gorgeous, where else can you enjoy breakfast outside facing the sea with complimentary cava? There is an outdoor and indoor pool on one terrace and gym/ sauna etc at beach level. From the lowest level there is direct access to the beach. Other than the wonderful breakfast, we didn't eat in the hotel (some other guests had mixed experiences!), however there are plenty of reasonably priced restaurants nearby - an especially good Chinese one!

The hotel is NOT in Palma, but this is not an issue as the bus stops at the door and takes only 10-15 minutes to the centre of town. Having stayed here, I would not stay anywhere else when visiting Palma - it truely is excellent. NB Mainly English and German clientelle!

Watch out for the currency they charge on your card

from A TripAdvisor Member
Be very careful, I booked the hotel direct and was quoted in Euros. When I came to pay the bill they converted it to Pounds Sterling at a very much lower rate than the official rate quoted by my bank. In my opinion this is very sharp practice indeed. I have contacted the hotel about this, but to date they have not bothered to reply.

The hotel stay was not too bad, but the staff, well, I think that they thought that they were the ones on holiday!!! Talk about a bunch of miserable souls.

Great Hotel, odd area

from nagspope
The Nixe Palace is a superbly positioned hotel on a fine beach with excellent facilities. Wonderful views from the sea view rooms and the breakfast is one of the best you can get, with that superb view from the balcony. The outdoor pool area is very clean and sun loungers are not of the nasty plastic variety. Mixed, upmarket clientelle and a high quality but unstuffy atmosphere. This is wher the Spanish football teams stay when they play Mallorca! Word of warning about the area - not too many places to match the upmarket feel of the hotel. For food stick to the hotel (OK, if pricey for what you get) or nip over to the excellent value Casa Tauro across the road. You'll get a great value meal - including superb grilled prawns and a very serious quality omlette, should you wish. It's a short taxi ride into the superb city of Palma with its excellent restaurants and bars anyway!

Excellent!

from spadge
A friend and I stayed at this hotel in June 2003. Excellent service, superb breakfast, lovely room with sea view. We stayed 3 nights and ate in the restaurant 2 evenings food was A1 ! We didnt try the fish restaurant it didnt look too good. Surroundig area is not particularly good but its only a short cab ride into Palma. Definately reccomend the Nixe Palace.

Great plot

from A TripAdvisor Member
i went here with my girlfriend in March 2003 and we have a fabulous stay. the hotel is beautiful and we got a good bargain. by day you can ounge on an excellent sun deck area overlooking the beach or you can stroll on down those palatial stairs to the beach itself. Breakfast is superb and the view from the balcony is lovely. Short cab journey in the evenings to Palma Marina for dinner/clubbing. One word of advice DO NOT eat dinner at the NIXE, its terrible and the dining room is very very dull. Otehr than that top marks.
